AMD Z series APU for a Windows 8 tablet. This may be interesting, not sure if there is already a thread for it, it is a few days old tech. I personally have zero plans for gaming on anything other than PC and Wii U, I have no desire to game on a tablet or phone. But if AMD can provide this type of power, cool running and low power, maybe this will help stop AMD's slipping stocks and revenue.

Could be cool, I look forward to seeing more information and an actual product.

Not too excited about the z-60 (just a lower clocked e series, iirc), but the next gen Jaguar based APUs seem really promising, especially if they can fit that kind of power into a smartphone.
-
maybe they should get their drivers for PCs fixed first before going smaller

AMD has to work with a direct competitor to get the utilization correct, Nvidia is not a direct competitor to Intel anymore. Stop spreading fud. AMD has nearly 50% of the market on high end gaming, nearly the same market share as Nvidia, so would seem only the very few hardcore Nvidia fanboys still want to spam forums with AMD drivers suck propaganda campaign.
Anyway, I think it's good AMD is making this move, they need to survive, their earnings have dropped on PC, they need a boost. And we need AMD to continue to give Nvidia and Intel and ARM competition or we are just looking at a monopoly on each of their markets.
/rant, tired of AMD drivers sucks with no evidence to prove their drivers are worse than their competitors. -
?????????????????????????? you are saying enduro works? how about the 60% utilization in bf3?

Never had any driver issues with my ATI Mobility Radeon X600 / X1600 / X1800 or the AMD Radeon HD 6970m.
Same can be said with the Nvidia Geforce Go 7600 & GTX 680m as well.
Sure the first gen Enduro have seen its share of problems but cant say first gen Optimus was perfect either.

think enduro only affects the 7000 series, not 6000

i had an order of 7970m, but after seeing so much problem with enduro, i changed to 675m. i plan to switch to 7970m if they fix the problem fully. i know with enduro fixed, 7970m is aruond 60% better than 675m

well this thread went off on a tangent... still excited about a legit powerful tablet.

It doesn't matter if it can run existing PC games. Existing PC games are not designed for a touchscreen-only user interface. At the end of the day, you're still going to need to run tablet-oriented games on a tablet, regardless of the processing power. So the most an owner could hope for was a really, really good looking Infinity Blade III (a game which, let's face it, gets real boring real quick).
I'm just not sold on the idea of AAA games on a tablet for reasons besides processor power. -
The G73 simply isn't portable enough to carry on many shorter trips, and I've stopped taking the M11x along as the tablet takes care of the majority of what I need on most trips. Some real gaming would be a welcome addition! -
What PC games are we talking about here? Don't a lot of them require a keyboard and mouse? I don't own a tablet so I don't know how easy it is to play PC games on them, so forgive me if I sound like I'm trying to argue against this. I simply don't know.
Either way, I want AMD to survive and thrive, and if this helps them, it's all good. -
I think AMD's strategy of striking a balance between Clover Trail (great battery life, but very iffy performance) and Ivy Bridge (fantastic performance for a tablet, but only 5ish hours battery life) is a good idea. We'll see how the execution is though.
AMD entering tablet market, running actual real games, not tablet/phone games.
