    No News is Good News.

The ONLY buzz at all was that Alienware's new M17X will have the 7970M as an option.

I think Dell/Alienware will have announcements at PAX East next weekend (Apr 6-8) so maybe there'll be some news at that event?

Has there been any "more" news on the 680M and 7970M or 7990M? I haven't been keeping with the other Kepler threads.

Kinda like a Geforce GTX 485m vs a GTX 580m, just by a bigger margin i guess.
I dont regret my purchase of the HD 6970m though, got that when it was brand new on the market. :)

AMD has been quiet, even after Nvidia released Kepler.

Uh oh... maybe AMD is either laughing their asses off about Kepler or are scrambling to beat it

Also aren't all the Southern Islands GPUs going to have some kind of improvements for GPU compute, openCL and partially resident textures?

I don't know, I am very skeptical about high end 28nm products, I think mobile market won't see a high end product for sometime, and that is precisely why we have gtx 670m and 675m (otherwise as soon as 680m will kick in, they will become redundant products), for now they will serve as utmost performance in gaming lappy..

One thing that hits me when looking at game benches is that our hardcore mobile GPUs, 580M/675M/6970M/6990M is pretty weak compared to desktop GPUs. There are quite a few games we still can`t play in Ultra 1080p with 60FPS yet. And the list will only get bigger during the next years

You`d think we would be there already with these massive 100W GPUs but no...

It's been reported on dell posterous already that the next gen M18x R2 will be AMD 7970M x2 which should be 28nm. If I can buy with only that option and no 680M, then so be it and no sale to nVidia.

Problem with notebooks with SLI/Xfire is heat and noise unfortunally. I have never used M18x before though so I don`t know how it is.
We absolutely need cooler and more powerful efficient GPUs than previous generation thats for shure. Kepler is looking pretty good regarding that.

Have you seen the video of the watercooled M18x btw? Man if it becomes available for end users im totally buying it. Very quiet and effective cooling system that is capable of allowing desktop level GPUs.

The M18X isnt any louder than any other notebook, and it doesnt really get hot. Lots of good cooling going on. The only issue is the weight, its fairly unwieldy, especially with the power brick. but hey.. you cant have everything.

Not sure if you guys know about the HD 7750M, but can you estimate roughly the specs from what you have seen?

That chip is appearing in the next ENVY 15.

I would also like info on this too. Is it confirmed that it will be in the envy or is it just speculation?

I would assume it will be atleast the performance of a gt 650 since the dv6/dv7 series is getting those and since the envy line is premium brand. or maybe it is the lower card they offer and the higher one will be HD 7770m or HD 78xxm

Still, their 6970M gaming laptop is still considerably more expensive than a custom Clevo setup.
I'm curious what they'll tag on this one.

Absolutely right. Samsung is in it to win it.

Just 10 Years ago, if you asked someone what they thought of Samsung, they would have rated them a 2nd tier TV maker.

Now, they are considered the top of the TV Foodchain, they give Apple a run for their money on several fronts.. And they have replaced Sony as "THE" multi-media company for the average Joe. That is astonishing.. it takes a lot of brave and calculated moves alike to get to this spot.

Heck.. i just bought my Daughter a Samsung Laptop.. Its very nice and affordable.. Ask me even 5 years ago if i would consider a Samsung Machine and i would have said no-way.

And best of all their products is of great quality. It seems they put that in every detail in their products.

Before the 6970M notebook they were pretty unknown for gamer enthusiasts too if I remember correctly.

Is there any ETA for this Series 7 notebook Meaker??

I just went through this thread hoping for new information, but apparently, the only thing that's known about the new AMD mobile series is:
    - Alienware M17 and Samsung Series 7 Gamer will have the option of Radeon 7970M

    adding to that:
    - Clevo P170HM laptops are not offered with AMD cards at the moment
    - Sager NDA will lift this Thursday and no info about AMD cards in Clevos/Sagers has been released.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that sound bad for AMD? My original plan was to buy a laptop with the Radeon 6990M or its new equivalent, but so far, it doesn't look like that's happening. And unless the Nvidia 675M is cheaper than the 580M, I'll either have to shell out $300 more for a 10% increase in performance, or settle for a GTX 670M if I can't afford the extra cash

Ok that sounds better now. I just hope that either the 675M is priced reasonably, the 7970M is released soon, or the 6990M option is returned on the 17" laptops.
