    Hi all,
I'm considering either a Sony SB with the AMD: 6630 or 6470.
I'm on a tight budget atm, so I would like to save money when possible. So if any owners of these cards could assist me on the performance of these cards, that'll be very appreciated.

I'm just wondering; how much of an improvement IRL game situations is there between the 2 cards? (I don't care about 3D benchmarks)
As a guideline, I'd be happy to run games just on 1366x768, and low/mid details. (any modern shooters, RTS, Shogun 2, new Deux Ex when it comes, etc.)

    I know the; 6630m = 128bit 480@485 and 6470m = 64bit 160@700
So on paper it looks huge, but please, what can I expect IRL? (fps gain?)
    Thank you all!

128-bit will make a huge difference, not to mention CPU clock speed.

You're talking over 50% gain in overall performance. How that translates to in game depends on the game, but probably a solid 20-40% fps improvement, not to mention ability to play with more detail.

Also, if you don't mind me asking why Sony and what price are you looking at? There may be better options out there for a similar price.

@HTWing: I'm looking at something not more than 1000 euro. And the Sony because, I need it to be light and small (I travel alot).
Atm, I have the older Sony S series, which has Intel graphics. I thought it would be ok with the Intel GMAs when I bought it, but it's extremely depressing when I realise it won't even play things like "Borderlands or Shogun 2 - Total War" on minimum.
So this is why this time, for sure I at least get something with "any" AMD or Nvidia card.

Yeah, to play anything recent 6630m is the way to go.

Just did a brief look and seems the Acer 3830TG is probably the best competitor at a decent price. But Sony is nice too. In any case I'd say definitely the 6630m.

your forgetting 160 to 480 shaders too.

Depending on the game I would say 3-4x difference.

Its going to mean the difference between going down in resolution and lowering details to minimum and playing comfortably at native res at medium details.

Speaking of real life experience I was almost in the same situation I used to have a HD4570 & moved all the way up the food chain to the HD5650 the same distance I guess applies between the 6630 & 6470 ... on same settings as Meaker said sometimes it is like 3~4x difference but who needs these weak settings anymore :D ... I pump up the settings to almost double what I used to use or even more ... never turn off +2 AA (unless it is the bloody witcher 2) which FYI I run it 25~40 preset medium settings on resolution 1280*768 to compensate for the lack of AA & remove any jaggies & it works wonderfully smooth and utterly good looking

If you are on a tight budget the 6630 wont disappoint you

Guys, do you think 6630M is good enough to handle GTA 4 in high resolution?

Unlikely. Why not check some benchmarks of similar cards? Or even the card itself?

LG330 (GT555M), Sony SA (HD6630M) and Acer 3830TG (GT540M) have the most powerful GPUs in a 13" chassis.

Other way of doing it would be something like a 1.4kg Toshiba R830 + a x1.Opt eGPU like a GTX460. It would outbench all the dedicated GPU setups.

A good middle ground would be a 13" Fujitsu SH761. It offers a GT520M for on the go + expresscard for an eGPU setup.

See other light-and-thin 13" systems here.

If you want something cheap enough, but also powerful, HP DV6qe, 6770m and 2630QM. That'll last awhile. Also, that LG330... I want it.

M11x and high demanding games??? I think you will be able to play but on lowest settings. However the M11x has already cooling problems while gaming. It wont be a good idea. 100% load all time. Originaly it was built to be an alternative to Atom-GMA3150/ION/ION2 systems ( remember?!).
