What other games are similiar to or better than AOE2? I like AOE2 alot, I like AOE3 and AOM also. What are other games fall in the same genre that I may want to try?

You should definitely check out Rise of Nations. For something newer, though bigger in scale, Supreme Commander.

The Empire Earth series should be a good look. It's got a lot more content than the AOE series, though I haven't played much of EE.

edit: let me add aoe3 was complete garbage. The game has no depth at all

Nothing better than AoEII? I beg to differ. Total Annihillation and Supereme Commander are both better. So is RoN.

RoN TA and SC are not better, IMO. But we all have our tastes and I respect that ;) :)

You could mix things up a bit and try Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (and it's expansion Frozen Throne). It is a bit different, but it more closely follows the AOE style than, say, C&C3 or Supreme Commander.

That said, maybe you'd like C&C3 or Supreme Commander?!

I really can't think of any other AOE style RTS games besides the ones you listed.

same here, cant think up of anything that will ever beat AOE 2, it was quite simply amazing, dawn of war, AOE 3, warcraft 3, battle for middle earth, supreme commander, total annihalation.

all those are games with similar game styles, but they still dont come anything close to AUE 2.

If you don't like a hyper paced battle (i always liked drawing out battles and building towers gallore in AOE2...almost turning it into a tower defense game) then CnC 3 online will not be your cup of tea. It is a fine game though single player with loads of options and a nicely hashed out campaign.

CoH is good, but it is not really the same at all as any AoE game. RoN is the closest to AoE, but I like the elements they added better when compared to AoE. If memory serves, Empire Earth (at least the first one) was actually designed by the guy who did AoE I (or II... anyone remember better which?).

SupCom is the spiritual successor to TA (designed by the same guy, with the same grand strategy scale), and is much closer to AoE than CoH. CoH is squad based tactics, not grand strategy. AoW is a very good game, obviously thet same basic game engine as CoH (when you play the 2, you will see what I mean), but still feels different, a little less tactical and more strategic, though still pretty far towards tactics on the spectrum.

I personally like grand strategy the best, though I can appreciate a good strong tactics game. AoE is a good game, but isn't grand enough, IMHO, nor is it tactical almost at all. If you want epic RTS though, nothing currently has Sins of a Solar Empire beat.

empire earth was by a guy from aoe1. its good..................but a slightly different style of play. i think it came out not long after aoe2 did.

the main difference is the 14 epochs. from prehistoric to nano. but in most games they are limited to about 3 or 4 of these (multiplayer that is). their are a few other differences like phrophets and hero's (sort of like warcraft 3) but i would say its the most similar discounting the other age of titles.

how did i forget total war >.<

yes the total war games are really really really good strategy games, regardless of whether you like managing cities and countrys or not (just turn the city managing off), and just conquer, theres nothing like the feeling of taking 800 roman soldiers and watching 5 - 10 thousand gaul warriors charge into your perfect regiments and watching the barbarians get crushed by a tiny force.

not even AOE 2 gave me that satisfaction, but still overall the best game IMO.

medieval total war was a brilliant game for huge battles too, especially when you decided to force thousands of men into a tiny castle, and watch a ridiculously large force try to storm.
