Anyone fancy a guess at how long before this is free play? i mean £7 for 20hours gameplay is a freaking joke! thats MORE then it costs me a month for wow, this is just really stupid and i REALLY hope the game does poorly so that the people that made it see what a complete p*** take they are and start allowing free play

yeah its a joke, i mean it looks good and fun but £7 for 20hours is freaking poor AND i think that the price might be an introductory offer or something so could go up.
$6.99 (£5.59/6.29E) = 20hours
$9.99 (£7.998.99E) = 30 Day
i mean the 30 day one aint so bad but still! -
$7 for 20 hours of game time is ridiculus!
They really should go F2P on this, look how popular Dungeons & Dragons Online got when they relaunched it as F2P.
THey even boosted their earnings. :O
Il guess even The Lords of the Rings Online will get the same population boost this fall one it hits F2P too. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
thats going F2P - i wish FF14 will, but dont think it will
now i would buy this in a second IF it was free play but i am unwilling to pay monthly on it -
NC Soft did the right thing with Guild Wars, making the user only pay a one time fee.
I mean look at all the asian MMOs hitting the US and European market now.
They are all F2P (With various quality lvls) and they use a cash shop to to earn money to run the servers.
By the looks of it APB offers some sort of cash shop and they still charge monthly fees.
Im not 100% sure but i think also Blizzard has some sort of cash shop for WoW now. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
Yeah wow has a cash shop, you can buy in game pets, mounts but i think nothing that can really give you an advantage you can also buy figurines and such as well. i am hoping the game bombs (which is a shame) and that they decide to release it as Free Play
-
We can only hope.
I bet even Age of Conan would show massive growth if it was released as F2P or even partial F2P without the expansion. -
Playing the game it really isn't worth a monthly fee. Its just a game you can only play online and it doesn't have anything fancy except for the customization features. There is no headshots or anything like that so in a straight fight its just who is the highest level and who unlocked the better gun. The missions are very repetitive and until they balance out upgrades (which they said they would) if you see someone with an upgrade on their gun and you don't have one you might as well run away.
just my two cents, I have been playing it for the past two days with my friend and although we have a good time when the game doesn't glitch or are car doesn't explode after slight touching a telephone poll. I really can't see this lasting longer then the 50hours they give you for free when you buy the game. -
So its similar to GTA4 online, only its restricted by lvl and items and not playerskill?
Now i dont have the urge to play this game anymore. -
I think F2P is horrible because if you want to keep up with everyone else you have to buy stuff individually. In the long run it costs more than a flat rate per month of having access to it all.
It's all about nickel and diming you to buy the latest and greatest all the time. It's a great marketing scheme to make you think you're getting a good deal when in reality the company is the one profiting. I'd rather spend the hours I'm already playing to just build up to have it with my flat rate per month all access. -
Depends on the game type I think... GW does F2P well because... well, bought items really have no impact on the game balance, they're just shinier. They also charge for stuff like renaming and extra storage, but I think that's becoming common-place even among pay2play's (WoW). It would work for APB too but they'd need to rework a lot of stuff, like global agenda is doing.
I do think that even having the option of paying for a certain amount of hours is a step backwards and a big fat fail though... hopefully they learn that soon. -
I am trying out Eve: Online and I've already logged over 24 hours in less than three days time and I bought the game and 30 days worth of trial for $2.
I don't really understand the basis of paying for a certain amount of game time. -
yea 9 hours in and i'm done.
-
i heard it will turn free service after 3 months.
-
Looks like it will have a terrible player community anyways.
Not my kind of game. Don't like the whole "gangster" thing. -
It doesn't seem like a great game. I had a beta key for Need for Speed: World and that was horrible even as a F2P.

this game could have been feasible without a monthly fee. most people are going to stick with other already established MMO'S or even GTA4 online. I know its not the same but its free. Besides the game did seem kind of lame anyway,* snore* gangs vs police again. The overall concept was good though with separate areas for relax and rampage, and the customization. But 49.99 plus fees is a joke when GTA4 was just on sale for 4.99 or you can get WoW for free and just pay the monthly fee.
