I know some folks on here play ARMA. I have ARMA and I have played the demo of ARMA II. My old laptop could not hardly run 2 at all.. even at like 640 by 480. On the m17 high details I run it @1440x900 to keep the frames up a bit (preference).

My question is does anyone think ARMA 2 is worth the 50 bones or is it basically just like ARMA 1? How is the gameplay? In multiplayer on the demo it got down to like 5 fps on deathmatch. In regular gameplay it hung from 33-40 fps. It this just a demo thing?

    Thanks for the responses.

Well i would tell you how awesome it is to look into the distance and see a mountain.. and know that you could fly/walk/drive all the way to it (and probably over it). And i would also tell you how fun it is to play as a chicken and try to escape from hunters... but since steam decided to download a 4.5gb update for it, it stops responding everytime on the loading screen :\

But yeh, apart from it not working.. it is a pretty awesome game.. just absolutely FULL of bugs :p

If i was you, i would wait a month or two for Operation Flashpoint 2 to come out and see if they have actually addressed most of the bugs before releasing it.

Also.. i think it should be called Arma 2 BETA

ARMA II is awesome, buy it.

ARMA II is on a par with OFp, which makes it far better than ARMA I

ARMA update... for all who have or want to play the original ARMA with an Alienware laptop or any laptop with crossfire... Here is what you do ...
    1. Install arma
    2. Patch to version 1.14
    3. Update ATI driver to 9.8
    4. Rename the actual arma.exe to 3dmark06.exe
    whaaaaaalaaaaa
you now have almost double the fps. I am playing maxed at full res...

    Love it!

    Best Wishes,
