i was playing comand and conquer generals zero hour for no more than a half hour i would say and it gave me a serious error and shut down my game when playing it on my brand new F3SV-A1

it can either be caused by overheating, viruses, or that my computer does nt meet the minimum specs for the game. I know it isnt viruses or specs (no viruses when its not connected to the internet, and my specs are way better than minimum). So that leaves overheating, but my laptop wasnt even warm hardly so is there a problem with my temperature guage or something like that? maybe it thinks its hotter than it really is or something like that.

    any ideas?

You can use RVtune to monitor the temp. Anything under 80°C should not cause problems. Also you can try updateing the drivers. What drivers are you currently using?

ok, apparently my computer (just surfing the net) is at 66 degrees celcius. is that too high?

my computer sure doesnt feel that warm at all, little bit of warmth but not even really noticable

alright, i was playing generals and it was at 70C for a the whole time (excluding a bit at the start) and then it just got the serious error kinda randomly, but it was at about the same time i got it last time

and the counterstrike source video stress test gave me temperatures of max 81, that is way too high and you would think the laptop would feel hot at temperatures like that

66c for surfing the net is a tab bit high.

My Core Duo runs at about 52c while surfing the net and doing some other minor tasks.

70c or a up to around 85c while gaming is normal.

It is running a little bit hot though, I suggest investing in a cooling pad and make sure the laptop is in a well ventilated spot.

And can you post exactly the error message and do you only get it while playing C & C?

someone recommended me to get notebook hardware control instead, and that reads between 45 and 50 while surfing the net, i havent tried it while playing a game yet though, so ill do that and ill get the error message at the same time :)

but i think rivatuner must read gpu temp and nhc must read cpu temp, because they are reading way differently

and my laptop is in a well ventilated area, i have a stand for it and the bottom is made of weaved wires like so its got lots of air going in

I doubt it is due to overheating, if it was really overheating I would expect the laptop to shut down completely.

Try updating your video card drivers and direct x.
