Here are the specs for it.

Sager I've already looked at, but I hate their lack of multimedia buttons (using Fn + numbers seems so awkward).

this should be in what notebook should i buy forum. also you probably can fill out a FAQ. the gaming equivalent would be the asus g50v(15 inch), asus g70v(expensive)(17 inch), sager np8660(15 inch), and the sager np5796(17inch). and i know you already looked at sager i just wanted to put it down.

A 9600M GS seems a bit anemic for "Heavy gaming".

    No.

Wow $2200 for that. One who seeks "heavy gaming" would be wise to spend that $2k on something with a good graphics card.

There's always the gaming line from ASUS, like the G50V. I think that the G50V-A2 is, so far, the most pimp gaming PC in the G50V series. Plus, the beast is only about 18-hundred. Of course, Microsoft is running this promo to get people to try out its Live[dot]com site - they're calling it cashback and Microsoft will literally give you a percentage of your purchase cost back via a bank account or paypal account; crazy, right? Anyway, you should know that I was able to find the G50V through one of the qualifying Live vendors for 1,667.00 (once you get the cash back). That's pretty friggin' awesome!

Anyway, until I settled down and realized that I am not really all that into high graphics games I was very much into the G50Vs. Differences between these and the M70V series is that the M70Vs have more modest graphics cards, a larger (less efficient) screen, a less impressive web cam and an 8 cell battery - as opposed to the 6 cell that comes with the G-for Game series; that's about it. To my suprise, the G50Vs DO have Altec Lansing speakers and come packaged with a 64/32 bit Windows OS (which you will need to take advantage of the 4 GB or RAM standard to both models mentioned above).

The other cool thing about a 64 bit OS is that you can pop a four gig memory stick into the included memory stick reader and have an extra four GBs of memory on the cheap!!! So basically, it's like running your comp on 8 GBs of memory. You just want to make sure that whatever flash memory you get doesn't exceed 4 GBs (because 4 GBs of flash is all that's supported by this function) and that whatever brand it is it states that it is "ReadyBoost compliant."

Also, have you looked at Micro Express??? - They're clearly made by Sager, but you may be able to find a better deal through them. Although, you'll probably have the same problem with the lack of media buttons.

Thats not worth your 2k....look into Sager and pick up a 8800M GTX. If you play it smart and keep the CPU low then upgrade later (and ram) you could save a couple 100's.

look into it! an 8800M GTX is THE best mobile GPU on the market up to date.

Yeah, about the M70VM-C2 - I just got off the phone with an ASUS rep who is now saying that this model isn't coming. Apparently they just got a memo saying that, in fact, the M70VM-C2 was a "sample" that they were just running with a few retailers and that it was never intended to be sold!!! ***. This is a totally different story than I got the other day... I made sure to impress upon the people that I did speak with that the laptop is up for pre-order on a bunch of websites by companies that believe the thing is on it's way. Did I say ***??

Too bad that my first experience with ASUS had to be so phucking shatty and that no other laptop, in comparison, seems to fit me like this one did. Was it too good? Not the profitability they anticipated??

    Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Anyway, I encourage anyone who has been looking forward to the M70VM-C2 to call ASUS and give them a piece of your mind and impress upon them that there is a market out her waiting to give them money for something we all thought was on it's way.

The number is 1-510-739-3777 ext. 1 ext. 3

Huh o_O? XoticPC is still listing the ASUS M70VM-C2 as available. Maybe you should call them about it.
