I'm curious if the 1270 is really that much better than the 1150. I have two cheap dells picked out. The specs are almost the same except for the igp. The one with the 1270 is $200 more ($499 vs $699). I'm not expecting much from them and realize how bad igp's are. But the only gaming that will be done on it is very light and older games at that. I somehow doubt that the 1270 is worth $200 more... but I thought I'd check with the experts here and get your take on it.

    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately the power of IGPs is very much based around the performance of the rest of the laptop, partly because IGPs use the help of the cpu. For example, my Toshiba with a Celeron cpu scores 100 points less than a Packard Bell with a Core Duo cpu, the specs being otherwise the same (128MB x200m and 1GB ram).

What is the complete specs of both laptops? If they are otherwise identical or very similar the 1270 is not worth another $200. If the more expensive laptop also features a more powerful cpu and other better hardware it may be.

Yeah the integrated x1250 in my desktop and an overclocked C2D @ 3ghz gives it quite a boost.

1150 should work for you, and no if GPU only diff not worth $200 more, $50 tops and that might be high. 1270 is much better but....No.

Thanks for the help. I had a feeling it wasn't worth it. The other specs were exactly the same. I'll stick with the 1150 then. Before anyone says anything about the 1150, yes I know what I'm getting myself into. This is a second laptop for my wife. All she does is play Pogo and Sims 2 occasionally. I have a HP nc8430 with a x1600 in it. :p

    Thanks again! :D
