Which one in general is better for gaming? It's time for me to pick a laptop for school, and the only thing I am worrying about is the graphics card.

I'll be playing World of Warcraft and Half Life 2 and possibly Battlefield 2.

The machines themselves are the Dell D620 and ThinkPad R60.

    Thanks.

You should complete our FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum so we can help you find a laptop. Neither of those are good for gaming.

It would be the Quadro NVM 110, which is a 7300 Go equivalent (64MB dedicated, 192MB shared)--about ~1500 3Dmark05. In reality the two cards are very comparable and it's almost a wash. You'll have no problem with WoW or HL2, but BF2 may need some reduced settings (and preferably 2GB of system RAM).

EDIT: ChazMan421 is correct though--both these cards are for low end gaming. I'd suggest looking at the X1600 in the Asus W3J if you can afford it.

Heh, if it was up to me, I would be getting a Mac. I am a Mac user but am forced to get either of the 2 for College. So that's why I have no other options. I guess I shall go with the Dell since it has a Widescreen. So the Nvidia card shall come with it.

The ThinkPad would be better performing in games versus the Dell, and also has better build quality + keyboard.

I agree that the Thinkpad would be much better for gaming. However, I'm not so sure the Thinkpad would have much better construction than the Dell. The Latitudes are pretty tough. But as far as gaming, the nVidia Quadros are not that great with the exception of the 2500M, which is only outdone on 3dmark05 by the 7800 GTX and 7900.

An important thing that people sometimes overlook is the fact that some OEM companies may put in a good graphics chip without realizing what kind of cooling it needs to keep it from overheating (like my HP).

If possible, always try to get a hands-on experience with the laptop you want to buy. Don't try to kid yourself into getting a laptop that may be "ok" at gaming only to realize later that you wish you had something else.

do bear in ming that both cards are low performance cards and are not intended for serious gaming. I really don't think those two GPUs are future proof.

Mulak is right. It is for Sheridan College and they are dicks for being so limited and imposing this 'choice'. I want a MacBook so bad.

Anyway, after much thought I have opted for a Dell D620 w/ 2GB Ram, and that TurboCache card.

It should be good enough I think for at least WoW and possible HL2/BF2 and maybe some crappy RTS'.

EDIT: Also, the reason I hate the Lenovo is because it only does 1024x768. Too small a resolution for me, heck maybe even anybody now a days.
