I just saw the Mobilityi Radeon 4000 series on xbitlabs.

Pretty funny- considering the 3800 series was

    V A P O R W A R E.

I had read on a link here on NBR that we'll see notebooks with the 4000 series cards by the end of the year. I wonder what their pricing and performance will be to the Nvidia counterparts. My brother really loves the price to performance ratio the HD4850 got in his desktop. :)

How can the 3800 series be vaporware? The OCZ Whitebook has the option of both single or dual 3870 if I remember correctly.

Like the others have said, the HD38XX in notebooks is definitely not vaporware, it is used in several models in fact.

I'm wondering how the 4000 series will compete with Nvidia's current 9000 series in notebooks. :)

I think that Fujitsu Amilo notebook that's the first to support ATI XGP has only been released in Europe for now, or if not, will be soon. I'm hoping this will hit the U.S before year's end. Too bad the ATI XGP is limited only to AMD Puma notebooks. I'm hoping for the Expresscard 2.0 standard to hit notebooks soon so Intel notebooks can also get external graphics for gaming. The benefits of external gaming graphics cards for laptops is numerous and a fantastic idea.

The current 9M series from NVIDIA no substantial benefits over the 8M series. Just hoping against hope that the Mobility Radeon HD4xxx series is an improvement over the 3xxx series.

It's great that ATI is able to compete in the notebook arena. Now they and nVidia have been busted for price fixing, costs should start to go down.

    Good news for us!

OCZ's website reveals no machines with an ATI GPU.
The only ATI 3870 I see available from Fujitsu Siemens was the external graphics box, not a GPU in the notebook.

I'd love to be proven wrong. Please prove me wrong. It would make me happy to actually see the card.
    Send a link.
    cheers.
