    Hi all,

Been checking out this forum for a while. All good. Picked up some very useful tips from this community. Cheers.

Anyway with intro complete, I thought I’d add my current advised comments for your perusal.

I’m new to the laptop scene, always been a desktop sort of guy! But I’m thoroughly enjoying the “freedom” afforded by these super little machines. Anyway, noted some interest in the ATI HD4200 IGP on my forum travels and what they can do regarding gaming. I have one of these in my machine and I have to say I’m rather impressed with it’s performance. So I thought I’d pop down a few games that I’ve had success with in the hope it may help people considering this budget integrated card for future purchase. Btw, I’m running Win7 64bit with 3gb memory.

    CnC Generals and ZH
    Red Alert 3
    Act of War Gold Edition
    Dawn of War 1
    Tiberium Wars
Warcraft 3... Yep, you got it. I like RTS games!
    Doom 3
    Quake 4
    Far Cry 1 and 2
    Modern Warfare 1
    Flatout 1 and 2. A brilliant 60fps at 800x640. Very impressed!
    Sega Rally.

Not an exhaustive list, but should offer some indication of what this IGP can do. Hope this post
    is helpful for some. Enjoy.

RA3 I have most of the settings low at, I think, 800x640 res. Still looks sweet and plays very smoothly. Generals, ZH and Warcraft 3 I play at 1024 x 768 on medium settings. Again sweet as the proverbial! I could probably up these settings but I'm quite happy with these visuals and more importantly speed of play. Cracking budget card, really has surprised me.

from what i know , a laptop with G310M would be better... but quite impressive... but for me anything less than 1024X768 doesn't look good for me...

Similar story to Generals and the like. 1024 x 768 res and settings mainly low/medium. Smooth gameplay, graphics look good. Or put another way, eminently playable!

Update here for any potential 4200 fans! I'm sure there are many!!

PGA Tour 2008: Runs very well. Fast and fluid. Not sure of the res or detail as it was the demo version and the settings option was unavailable.

Pro Evo 09: 1024x768. Again plays nicely.

    Football Manager 10: Ditto...

    FIFA Manager 08..

Tomb Raider...Forgot which one, certainly one of the recent incarnations but it was not Underworld. Again ran fine at 1024.

Btw, the reason for this thread is the fact that before I bought this laptop I sourced appropriate forums for info about different cpu/gfx specs to aid my purchase. A thread on this subject would have been very beneficial in this research. Hence, I hope this may be of benefit to others who are in the market for a budget laptop solution, who [like I was], are not quite sure what a particular system can achieve gaming wise.
