So i just purchased a HP dv6t quad edition with the help from this forum but after I purchased it, i read on a forum that there were problems with the 6770m where it does not support OpenGL and also does not properly switch between the onboard graphics card and the 6770m. Can anyone elaborate on this/confirm it as I am a bit confused and wonder if it will happen to me and also why no one pointed this out to me. Should I just return the laptop right away? Here are the specs of the laptop that i purchased

I have the 6770M and havn't had any problems, what I did is when I got my laptop I right clicked on the desktop and made sure it ran the graphics card on all my games and then I also changed the AA and such to improve quality and havn't had any problems becuz every new game I install is on high performance by default and all my games run silky smooth on max.

can you run things that run on OpenGL like photoshop and such?

You can but it won't run optimally becuz it will be using the integraded graphics. So if you plan on doing a lot of these programs than only run on OpenG then yu might want to consider getting a different computer.
Heres the thread talking about it:
