Not a whole lot going on with this update vs 9.11 but can never hurt to have the newest drivers (well usually)

There is a newer HOTFIX 9.12 out to try and correct some bugs in the official 9.12 driver they couldnt get WHQL tester first.
For desktop users it also adds crossfire eyefinity support.

Apparently the official 9.12 has some issues with MW2, however Witcher is now working for everyone, and the hotfix seems to be the better of the two drivers. -

I knew about the hotfix but was only aware of the addition of the crossfire support for eyefinity. Since this is a laptop forum nobody can have that so I didnt post it
I only have one card and I am afraid to have issues with the display port audio so dont even know if I want to use the hotfix. It used to always turn on the HDMI audio when sing my HDTV instead of my soundcard out, now I am affraid it will do the same with my computer monitor and its so annoying. But I guess I will need to use it if I want to play CoD MW2, but I am not playing it yet. -
I did some benchmark and real games play using the 9.12 and 9.12 hotfix.
The 9.12 sucks, 9.12 hotfix is better. I gain more FPS for Dirt2 using 9.12 hotfix.
Seriously, I think AMD/ATi need to hire a better Driver Team.
Unlike Nvidia, Nvidia always have a lot of Drivers pop-up(beta/official).
ATi's, only 1 or 2 Drivers for an in between. -

Thanks for testing, I'll have to install this when I get home and try out Dirt 2.
I have started to get crashes with lines the last 2 times I played that I did not have before. To me this means bad cards or even overheating but my cards are not running too hot, I had dual 4850's in that case doing ok.
So that leaves only card failure :/ but goggled it and found dozens of people with the same issue so many think its driver related, got my fingers crossed that its the drivers and this fixes it.
I'll be pretty upset if I crash during a save after putting so much time into Dirt 2, single player is insanely long on that game (witch is really good)
Also what sucks is my 30 day window is over for RMA to newegg so I have to deal with HIS directly if the card is bad, and no computer during that RMA time :'(
I so want them to come out with a 4GB 5890 (2gb per card) for Eyefinity you really need more than 1GB of VRAM on a card. There is supposed to be a 2GB 5870 coming out but thats not the way I want to go, Id rather have the 1 card. -
For super big resolution or Eyefinity, yes, you need an at least 2GB GDDR5 HD5870 GPU.
For a single Display or Standard 1920x1080 resolution, 1GB GDDR5 HD5870 GPU will do.
Try the 9.12 Hotfix, it's good! -
Thanks for the information but it still doesn't fix the problem I had with 9.11. Driver Package is still not installed with XP 32 bit. No problem with Vista though.

If you play mw2 stay away from this driver, except if you want to have "seizures" everytime you get a stun/flash nade

its doing bad for me on Dirt also the hotfix is anyways, I get Fear slow motion effect for a second when I go over water, I have noticible studders in the game once in a while and I have no voice from the other drivers, including my rally navigator.
First time I booted the game I had mass corruption, so uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, installed 9.12 then installed the hotfix just to make sure the issue was not from me not installing 9.12 first last time.
No corruption on bootup of the game this time but have the above issues.
FPS does seem higher in the fps reading in game while setting graphic options but the game definitely is not running as well. -
Ati releases a official every month!
Nvidia doesnt even come close to that. -
OK.
Nvidia release WHQL Driver every 4 months on their Official Nvidia Download Site.
However, Nvidia have keep on releasing many other WHQL Official Drivers all the way through Windows Update every few days or or a few weeks. You should pay a visit here, www.laptopvideo2go.com
You will get to know why there's so many Official Drivers you haven't see before.
If you're considering ATI = 1 Month have 1 WHQL Driver, 1 Beta Driver and 1 Hotfix Driver, then, 1 month, Nvidia will release "unknown amount"(more than 1 for sure) of WHQL Drivers and many Beta Drivers. -
I stand corrected.
-
NVDIA might have way more drivers but recently their 195 series drivers seem to be epic fail.. overheating etc...looks like its joined ATI on the crap driver ride...
-
So 9.12 is not recommended right? Im using the 9.11 and no issues accept Borderlands, textures inside are realy messed up.
Would any of you that tried 9.12 also recommend it? -
The same driver doesn't mean good for me is good for you or it doesn't mean bad for me is bad for you.
There's also a CCC 9.12 Hotfix Version. Personally, I like CCC 9.12 Hotfix because it's better and boost my GPU performances. While CCC 9.12 Original Version is a nightmare for me.
