The day that passed saw the release of ATI Crossfire Extension v.1.0. It is a utility that came out of nowhere and it does a very simple but very important thing.
It force enables crossfire, in games and/or applications that are crossfire/ati multi gpu agnostic.
I was pretty enthusiastic by the title of the utility alone and i got even more enthusiastic when i draw my first conclusions which i video recorded as proof, in order to share them with you.
A few days ago i came across FEAR 2 demo and i made a video of it which you can watch below.
ATI 4870X2

I then understood that it was not running a lot better than my ATI 4850 and my X2 was performing as a vanilla 4870 instead. A normal scenario for newly released games/demos.
I did the same video recording on the exact same setup with the same driver version, but this time i used the utility to launch the demo.

Now the game runs like hell!
All you ATI muti gpu users, try it for yourself.
A big thank you to AgentGod, the administrator of Epichardware who is the creator of this nifty util and to Geeks3D who brought us the news. You can download it here!
PS Don't be fulled into expecting miracles from this utility, but it's better to have it than not! This example's increased performance is a little miracle by itself though!
