So yesterday, I updated the driver of my ATI HD 4650 straight from the AMD site. Everything went smoothly until today, when I tried changing the brightness of my screen, yet nothing happened. My Dell Studio 1747 has dedicated brightness buttons (like I'm sure pretty much all laptops have) and when I press them, I can only change the meter from one option to another. Even though that happens, the brightness doesn't change. I tried changing it from Windows software, nothing. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? I don't like removing my power cord and having the brightness remain as if I had the cord connected.

EDIT: I was able to uninstall the driver from the Device Manager, and I installed the Dell driver after. My brightness issue is now fixed. I have another problem now though. Catalyst Control Center stops working now.

Just wondering, if I downloaded the driver from Dell's site (which seems to be older, but I'm sure would solve the issue), would it cause any problems due to the fact that I'm removing a newer driver in favour of an older one?

Well, the thing is that there should be an "ATI Display Driver" in Add/Remove Programs. There isn't, only a Catalyst Control Center add/remove option. Should I just uninstall it by opening the Device Manager and right clicking on the Card itself?

I have this problem hapenning on my laptop too (since 10.3). Whenever I am on my Ati graphics card, my brightness controls don't work; however, I can change my brightness whenever I am on the intel integrated graphics.

Yesterday, I noticed that when I was on my ATi card, that I would be able to change my brightness through the windows mobility center (windows key + x), despite the fact that my brightness buttons did not work.
