Hi all, it's been a long time since I posted here.
I just have a few queries relating to my laptop - I haven't used it for a good while but I'm planning a trip abroad so I'll be taking it with me. Dusted it off and found it's all still in good working order - awesome!
Now, I also figured I'd install Windows 7 on it, I really need to get used to it (yes, I know, it's been out a long time and I really should know how to use it, but I don't).
I had a bit of a surprise when I found no Windows 7 drivers for my X1600 Mobility card - no worries, it installed them off Windows Update, which is all well and good as at least now my display can go above a painful 1024x768.
I'm not planning on gaming or anything so if these "default" drivers aren't as good as "proper" drivers, that doesn't concern me.
What does concern me is Powerplay, I loved this feature as my laptop does get pretty warm. Is there a way to enable this? If not, could I BIOS mod the card to lower the voltages and clock speeds?
My laptop's specs are in my sig and if any more information is required just let me know and I'll find that out.
Just one quick question too which isn't related - if I take this abroad, specifically to Canada (I live in England), do I just need a socket adapter, to plug the 3-pin UK power plug from my laptop's PSU into the wall, or do I need something else?
Thanks,
Calum.

Hi,
I do still use my x1600 too. You can just download the Windows 7 desktop x1k drivers and use this: Mobility Modder - ATI Version, Install the Latest Drivers on your ATI laptop
That's what I do when I install Windows to play some games -
I've used that before to get the mobility drivers for XP X64, I didn't know it worked for Windows 7 too - thanks!
Will it include the Powerplay feature?
Edit: just tried them out and it does, great!
