Good day everyone, i just purchase a new laptop with HD 2600 card and when i use the AMD GPU tool to check the core speed, the value is 300 for core speed and 400 for memory speed, this should be 500 for core speed and 600 for memory speed? Can you please enlighten me on this or should i bring it back to where i purchase it?

    Thanks

when youre not in a game, vista downclocks the card to save power and reduce heat. Try checking while in a game.

Well I know the GDDR3 version certain has 500/600 clocks but I am not sure about the DDR2 version. Have you tried any BIOs updates from ACER?

For my HP notebook, before the BIOs update it was 300/400, afterwards, it was 500/600 because for some reason the clock speed was locked.

But obviously you have a different notebook and card. I actually think that 300/400 is the default clock speed for the DDR2 HD2600, as DDR2 memory runs hotter than GDDR3, therefore it does not allow for as high clock speeds.

you should be proud of your 300/400, because my 8800m gtx is running at 200/100 right now when i am typing this. however, by the moment i fire up any games, it will jump right up to 600/1500/950

I like to use gpu-z to monitor the clocks & temps and then ATI Tool and run the artifact scanner to max out the card and check for temps at load and overclock if needed.

^Same, doesn't work for the HD2600. Never has.

EDIT: you can use GPUz to monitor the clocks and ATI Tool to stress it. Make sure you check if you're set to max battery or max perf in the CCC. I just did a quick check and the clocks only change if I change from one to the other.
