I read this incerpt on the ati hd 4200 igp from notebookcheck:
And when looking at the specs of the Gateway NV53 i noticed that the 4200 igp has 256mb of dedicated memory,so my question is would that make the 4200 (with dedicated memory) equivalent to a Hd 3400 card since it has the same core?

Theoretically yes, it should.
Though, do you know to have the specifications of the ATI Radeon HD 4200 card that Gateway offers and the kind of memory that they are using on the card? -
Thanks, well heres the specs of the notebook which has the info about the card (it seems the 4200 is basically the 3200 with directx 10.1 support added on but also with the core of the 3400 instead of the 2400 like the 3200 is.)

The ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4200 in the Gateway NV53 will be just about equal in performance to an ATi Mobility Radeon HD 3400 that uses DDR2 VRAM, the GDDR3 version of said card is a little more powerful. -
Thanks for the info
