in addition to that it seems to be, that he can't go beyond 570 mhz memory clock due a bios bug ?? :)

if he can fix this error, he can go to 700mhz memory ?? wow.

holy ****, i mean, maybe the ati cards are overclocking wonders ?
    lol, i think, nvida 8600m bye bye :) :)

Looks like stock of the ddr2 8600 with the overclocking ability of the gdrr3 8600. No way his card can be that cool.

Yeah it makes sense since the card is gddr3 so these scores are no real surprise. Nice find though.

that laptop has a screen of 1280 x 800 so 3dmark06 wasnt run at the default 1280 x 1024 resolution which could explain those results, never the less the graphic card does seem more powerful than the gddr2 8600M GT

Toshiba A200/A210 idle GPU temperature is around 36-37*C (reported on other forum for A200-1AX and A210-128).
    So maybe it's possible...

".....the AMDGPUTool shows me a temperature of 53.000°C after playing for 2 hours straight, which seems rather "low" to me (with alot of room open for further overclocking)...."

tests were run at 1280x800 since that laptop only has a WXGA screen, also I believe the memory is only GDDR2 thats why he can't go any higher (american toshiba website lists it as GDDR2).

Ah you guys are right but then the scores aren't impressive at all :p. But I can't find the ddr2 statement, I thought there were no ddr2 versions of the 2600 series.

Although it is a nice 3DMark06 result, scores mean nothing in relation to real world gaming. So, unfortunately no conclusions can be made here other than that the HD 2600 can be (remember no two chips are the same) a nice overclocker.

They are actually as ~4100 would translate into ~3600 at 1280x1024. Also, just take a look at the toshiba website before saying something like "i thought there were no ddr2 versions"...what was that based on???

I've got 3338 on stock clocks using cat 7.9's with an 8510p - T7300 and 3GB ram. Seeing a 300 mark improvement due to potentially damaging o/c'ing doesnt seem worth it to me.

You'd potentially see a much higher improvement (probably 900) if you overclocked as you have better video memory.

My GPU hits 88 degrees Celsius under load and evens out at 82 degrees Celsius once the fans have kicked in.

I already get into the 3800 (3DM06) range with this MBP, I don't feel the need to OC it when it runs so well. Besides, I'd prefer NOT to have a flaming black hole instead of a laptop (if it runs at 82 Celsius now, I can't imagine how hot an OC would make it).

    GO ATI!

    *runs away*

Storm, I'm sorry, but thats becuase its a MBP, since the intel changeover mac has proven over and over again they understand thermal mechanics about as well as a Pentium 1(pre-mmx) understands math. Look that one up-youll get the idea. Not that its a terrible system.(Though... my mom hasnt had a great experiance with hers-which was a replacement for a rare lemon G4 titanium... we almost want the damned lemon back... damn thing overheated to the point of warping its case, recharging, turned off, on a laptop cooler, on a desk...)

That said. *whistles* Not bad. See, THIS is why i was disappointed by the 8600gs, i expected this kind of performance from it. Now, if only the HD2600XT follows this trend-and isnt so late that the 8800/9600 gf comes a month latter, i might even get one!

Also the 2X series are strong at 3dMark. Going by 3dMark, the X2900XT is the best card on the market - which is 100% false!

Guys just don't start it again. :confused2: There is a whole (mostly pointless) thread on whether 8600GT is better or worse than HD2600.
Based on several different test Gothic 3, Colin McRae DiRT, FEAR and Call of Juarez seems that 8600GT is on pair with HD2600 (both DDR2)- some things run faster on one, some on the other.
Even if one of them would be faster in all test there is more to decide which one is better like price factor or overclocking possibilities.
This thread was an informative one- the conclusion is HD2600 overclocks as hell and stays cool.
If you really need a fight start a pointless thread about how pointless is using 3D Mark
    So let’s just chill…

I've overclocked a 8600 @ 1280x800 to more than that, so that aint no great shakes.

No, but its common knowledge that the X2900XT benches well. It scored the highest 3dMark score awhile back, actually. Now, maybe thats changed with the Ultra, but for a card that can only beat the 8800GTS sometimes, it still took the 3dmark crown from the GTX - which is a far better card.

Which again shows why 3dmark shouldn't be used to entirely gauge your cards performance.
