Hi everyone,
Ive just been told off for reviving an old thread so I am starting a new one.
I am trying to source an ATI M56P Graphics Card for my laptop. 2 people have told me that is not replaceable but it is I have removed it from the laptop and have a picture of a similar one I believe this is a X1400 where as mine is an X1600 and doesnt have the chunk at the top right?

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
"Some" can be replaced, but it has to be made for the make and model of your machine, IE chances are if your laptop is an HP, and you find a dell card, its not going to work. More dtetails will help, but finding a laptop card at a practical price is difficult to say the least. Rule of thumb for "older" Dells is any Dell branded card available for your model will work with a bios update, not any dell branded card mind you, size and heat limits what cards can go. Note that newer systems, noteably the super thin XPS models seem to have the discrete graphics chips embeded onto the system board, making upgrades impossible without replacing the mainboard.

Your best bet is to probably buy an exact copy of your laptop off eBay or something, and use the GPU on that machine for yours. Alternatively, you could try purchasing one from http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/
The card you listed is a MXM Type II card, so to be on the safe side, you should also look for a MXM Type II card. -
To be honest, that doesn't look like a MXM card. I could be wrong though.

The laptop I have is an ECS G610P. ECS being Elite Group Services. The laptop itself is very good looking also known as an Advent 7079 I believe they did a few models. One had a Pentium M CPU mine has a T7200 CPU and the dedicated ATi Card.
