    Yo!

I've started this thread to present overclock & undervolt results of ATI HD2600 and Turion X2 TL-56(1.8 GHz) as one member on this forum asked me to do.

    So...

    HD2600 :

I've used AMD GPU Clock utility, 0.7
For informations about temperature and speed I've used Everest Ultimate Edition v. 4.20.
This overclock is made without any additional cooling help(thermal paste or notebook cooler, etc.)
I've been using these settings for about two months or so, and everything works perfectly stable.

So, here are the results :

I'm working on Windows Vista Ultimate, so I've bring results of Vista Performance Information :

Graphics : Desktop Performance for Windows Aero - 5.9
Gaming Graphics : 3D Business and Gaming Graphics Performance - 5.2

    And the AMD Turion X2 TL-56 :

I've been using RMClock Utility 2.35 beta update 2

    Results :

    Max. Performance : 1800 MHz
    FID : 9.0x - 0.900 V
    Max. Battery : 800 MHz
    FID : 4.0x - 0.700 V

I've been testing these settings some time, and now I'm gonna go one step further(0.850 V, 0.650 V), and after I'm sure it is stable, I'll post the results.

Edit : These are my results from 3DMark06 :

I think that 4061 is quite good result. I'm satisfied.

    Cheers..

    Roby

Just one question, if anybody knows who have HD2600, how to solve this problem...

I've downgraded my OS to Win XP SP3...and in Catalyst Control Center it says
that I have 512 MB, but when I was at Vista, it says 1024,as it would be normal(256+768(dedicated HyperMemory)).

    Thanks...

Your post was very helpful in giving me directions for Overclocking my Toshiba Satellite P200D-120 notebook.

    I just have two questions:

Is there a way to keep the overclocking settings achieved for the ATI mobility radeon card after each Windows start up? Or do i have to manually reset those settings every time i start Windows?

Undervolting the CPU seemed to help my video card overclocking, taking my card much further than what i could achieve with initial CPU voltage settings. Why is this happening? I have extensive experience with overclocking desktop systems and this seems like a strange result.

Don`t worry about that . Vista just adds more memory to the card but will never be used because the card is not powerful enough to use more than 256 MB of ram.
My card in vista said 1.2 gb of gpu memory, in XP it`s 512, and runs MUCH better in XP.
So don`t care about the quantity, but the quality. XP is the best for gaming right now.
However support for XP will be discontinued in july/august...

    Thx, eleron... :)

As I said, the best app for undervolting is RMClock...simple to manage settings and test the optimal voltage.

Well, how are the temps compared to the ones used before, and more important, did your battery life increase? :D

Hmm...battery life..I don't know, I haven't tested yet exact time because it is always on AC Power and it is not important to me. When I test it, I'll post the results.

    HD2600 :

    Idle : 42-43 C
    100 % Load : 55 C

    AMD Turion X2 :

    Idle :

    Before : 61-62 C
    Now : 54-55 C

    Processor load 100 % :

    Before : 72 C
    Now : 68 C

It may seem that it is the somewhere around same...but most of the time processor is not working at 100 %, so 5-6 C gain is what I achieved.

See ya until next update! :)

    Yeah, at 1.8ghz, 0.875v isn't stable for me either (fine at 1.6ghz though). 0.9v is ok, but I use 0.925v for the 9x multiplier as I also OC to 2ghz. At 1.8ghz, 0.925v should be 100% stable for 1.8ghz (assuming it's a 65nm TL-56).

Also, I don't care what Roby86 says about how stable it is, I think overclocking the HD 2600 DDR2 to 750/600 is crazy and asking for touble. I've gone upto 650/500 and it ran fine, but I didn't think it was worth the risk when it performs fine at 600/450. I'd rather lower a few settings than put my GPU under that much stress.

OK, I don't say I use all the time 750/600 or I use it at all, just for some games for some amount of time(1-2 hours). You see, every chip on HD2600 is different, so my chip on HD2600 may be slightly better than yours, and the same thing is with processor, some guys said that is not working on 0.875 V at 1800 MHz, for me it works just fine. When I'm in windows there is no need to put OC on graphic card and the OS is not using it(Win XP), it just produces more heat.

BTW, do you know what is the procedure of disassemblying Toshiba A210? I've find some instructions on this site :

    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/laptop-disassembly-1.htm

I wanted to put some Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste on the processor and clean some dust from the inside, as I noticed the temperatures are a bit higher.
