the ATI avivo is a great feature, but still i'm affraid that the 3800 series wont be able to compete with the 8800 series, but still i have high hopes for it

Until there are any official benchmarks,I wouldn`t trust a 3x performance increase.Heck, even 2x sounds far fetched coming from ATI...

I realize it was announce at Computex that's many hours ahead of my local time, but it doesn't mean it's not news. ;)

Much like their desktop counterparts, I expect the HD 3800 series to fall between the 8600m/9500m series and the 8800m series.

Cool. Got links to the benches?

Sure looks like it in tests, but I`m pretty sure fps wise, the 8800M GTS will still be better.

I saw that but I was hoping there was a real benchmark preview/review against a comparable system with an 8800m series card as Xirurg mentioned.

Also, I thought the 3x part was comparing it to their previous mobile offerings. I assume it's the HD 2000 series with the 2600XT being the fastest of the bunch.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 is on par with GeForce Go 8800M GTS so far by presented 3DMark06 score (from AMD).

    That's great.

    Finally competition to SLi.

    Much better from nVidia PureVideo.

    Good news.

hopefully this thing is energy-efficient enough to go into 15.4" laptops.
