My last laptop had the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 and my new laptop has the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 (512MB, DDR3). I'm just curious, are they on about the same level in terms of gaming?

ATi HD 2600 vs. ATi HD 4570.

Since the 4570 is a DDR3 according to your post it might perform fairly well--at first I thought the 2600 was the integrated ones. Weird, though, that although the 2600 has more pipelines, the 4570 scores on average a higher 3DMark 06 score. That might be due to the DDR3 memory.

In summary you'd see a noticeable jump in performance, but it seems the two cards belong in the same category (at least in notebookcheck.com), which are both listed as Class 2 cards.

I wonder why a newer card would have less pipelines... Neither of them are great for gaming but the ATI HD 4570 should perform better in all aspects. It also depends on how much RAM you have and your CPU.
