I finally played a game well... It was a demo of Darkest of Days and I was kinda expecting better performance I guess, I know it isn't really a gaming graphics card but still...

Max resolution of 1366x768 and High settings with AA off and it ran pretty sluggish, Max resolution 1366x768 and Medium settings with AA off and it ran decent, or should I say playable.

    Is this normal?

Which laptop is it in? Depending on if it's the DDR2 or GDDR3 version, there'll be a noticeable performance difference. I mean, don't get your hopes up, it's still not a gaming card, but it should be able to run games relatively well.

Also, considering the recommended system settings of Darkest Days ask for a desktop 8800(which can easily rival the higher end GPUs of the mobile world), your performance isn't too surprising.

Yes, that's normal. It's a 64-bit card and although it's probably near the top of that bunch, it's far from a good gaming card and medium is best you will do.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 13, Core2Duo P8600 @ 2,4GHz + 4GB DDR3 RAM + NVidia GeForce 9500M (9400M + 9200M). I was wondering 'what game' I could play with pretty good graphics on my system ? I currently only have Call of Duty 4, and everything is high specs, with AA turned off (1280x800). In my opinion, it is playable (so a 2006+ game). I liked C&C Generals a lot, but the game is kinda old, so all the intro movies of the campaign are not supported by my VideoCard (it says Nvidia Geforce 2 or higher) I guess 9 is too new. But back on my question, I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for me to play on my laptop (casual gaming, so not WoW or sth.) I love RTS and adventure (Fable-ish). Thanks in advance :)
