    Hey guys,

I got my VAIO around 2-3 years ago with ATI Mobility Radeon HD Graphics 5000 Series.
I go to device manager, or anywhere regarding my system information, it always mentions 5000 Series, however, it fails to mention which one of the 5000 ones... because there are so many 5000 series graphics card and i dont know which one i have. I know its stupid of me, but i would like to know how to figure this out.

hey, i downloaded the software from the link and the first thing i get is:

Please update your OpenCL and graphics drivers.

Would you like to re-enable OpenCL detection?

    i click on yes

ATI OpenCL driver bug detected, skipping OpencCL detection Uninstall the AMD Stream SDK/OpenCL driver to re-enable this functionality.

i click OK... and this wht i get:

    graphics card.gif

so it still says 5000 series but no proper number :/ can someone clear my doubts on this plz?

    thnks

    kash

That is indeed the 5650 Mobility. I have one in an HP laptop and it never is displayed correctly in hardware identifying software unless I use the factory default (way old and buggy) driver. Not a big deal though.

The 5650 mobility had 400 shaders, anywhere from 450 - 550 mhz depending upon manufacturer, and ddr3/gddr3 memory. It matches your specs. Sony was also known for downclocking their 5650 to 450 mhz due to thermal limits of the chasis if I remember correctly.

You can also always look at your model number and google the specs of that machine.

Sometimes OEMs have a custom prorprietary vBIOS which prevents it being read properly with programs like GPU-Z. Same thing applies for non-reference desktop GPU's with custom PCB.

Not really. Windows 8 should have the drivers built in and for your, you'll need to get the drivers from Sony most likely. Sony did not agree to AMD's mobile driver program, they opted out of it. Yes the program was automatic opt in, OEM had to specifically opt out of it, Sony did that.
