I saw it to. But it seems that was typo.
Try to google, in other site it said x1600 not x1700

No it really is the holy X1700. I knew it would come together with Merom.

    I know no-one know's any deets but I presume...

Either the X1700 replace the X1600 or is a new card to line up inbetween the X1600 and X1800 but can be used in a 15.4" frame?

the 1700 is 100 more than the 1600 ;) It's all about numbers and nothing about the overall components right? :p

The desktop version of the X1700 is slated to appear around the back-to-school season, so we may very well see this released September-October.

I suspect you maybe right - perhaps it'll be in Dell's e 1504 - I think if that's the case, you'll see quite a bit of return and/or people "killing" themselves... loudly

^ I'd be very surprised to see something like the X1700 in a Dell E1505. I don't think they would ever put such a high end card in their inspiron line notebooks. They save that for their XPS line ;)

X1700 in a 14"... now that with merom would be my type of notebook. :D

    Ha :p

    I'm about to get a laptop with a X1600 or 7600 - and I wouldn't care if the X1700 turned up only a month later...too much :D

My thinking is since the X1600/7600 can play Oblivion decent-ish, it's fine for 1/2 years...afterwhich with DX10, the X1700 wouldn't be much of an upgrade...I hope :p

i think the x1700 is a x1600 with 80nm build and therefore higher clock speeds - maybe 600 vs 450? Thats speculation - but it is fact that ati are switching to 80nm for their graphics cards.

my guess is that it will run faster and cooler - so thats good - but it wont be dx10 compatible. I'd imagine it will replace the x1600 and might even fit in a w3j. Just like the 9700 over the 9600. It will probably end up with the merom in the mac book pro.
If it comes in a 512mb version that would kick ass.
Still, i'm not gonna go selling my w3j over this turn of events.

    Yesterday I OCed X1600 in my W3j to 530/530 so I don't care about 80nm ;)

More work for me, they are still so rubbish at releasing propper specs, though they are getting a little better.

Well I realized that after I had posted.. But they do save their highest end stuff for there XPS line. Like the 7900GTX 512. If dell came out with another Inspiron 12", I doubt it would have ded. graphics, because then it would compete with there xps m1210. I think dell should be coming out with either a 14" or 15.4" XPS. Not sure though. And those will hopefully have top of the line graphics, something like the X1700.

"ATI's 80 nanometre mainstream parts are almost certain to be named X1700, although we have no confirmation about the suffixes used for two different chips. We know that two RV570 based models are likely to be named X1700XL and X1700XT, while the RV560 will find itself in the X1700Pro range. Unless the company pulls out an X1500 moniker to differentiate the two - and it would be interesting to see X1500 outperforming X1600 by a mile. At the same time, X1300 will occupy the low-end, and the X1600 should slowly fade away to leave room for different clocked RV560/570 parts."

Isn't the X1600 a lot better than the 7600 already? I would have thought they would make an x1700 for the higher nividia... At least, that's what will happen.

I think the x1600 mobility outperforms a 7600 go but i didnt think it outperformed the 7600gt go, i have a 7600gt go in my 2.0ghz core duo laptop and i get ~5000 3dmarks in 05 at stock, from what i understood,(i may be wrong though) an x1600 was getting ~4000 in 3dmark 05 with a 2.0ghz core duo laptop

I don't know if I should wait or not for the X1700 to show up. Right now I have a Pentium M 1.86GHz & GMA 900...sucks for gaming. I'm waiting for Core 2 Duo to show up in notebooks (supposedly a few weeks at most), but I'm not sure if waiting for this mystery part is worth it...

I'll probably feel bad though if the X1700 comes out two weeks after I get an X1600 though...but coming from a GMA 900 would it really matter? It'll already be a billion times more powerful than the intel part....

I just read on DailyTech that ATI is releasing the DESKTOP X1950 on 8/23/2006, with availability in Sept. It is also mentioned that ATI plans to intro several new cards at the same time.

It might be that ATI will intro new Mobility cards as well. Keeping my fingers crossed!
