I hope this hasn't already been looked at somewhere else on the boards but I checked the sticky and google and have had a hard time finding out much info about this GPU.![]()
Does anyone have a general idea of the performance of this GPU?
The reason I ask is the LG R200 is looking pretty nice as a 12.1" laptop, but I can't seem to find much info about the GPU!\
All info is appreciated and gracias in advance!![]()

You can see the 3DMark table for some info.
The 2300 HD (the X was dropped by AMD) is not a DX10 GPU, it's a revised X1300 GPU. -
Oh. I thought the HD cards were DX10 capable, sorry about that!
LoL @ AMD releasing mobile cards halfway through may that aren'y DX10 capable. -
We prefer to call those "Dirty tricks"...
AMD.ATI didn't release the specs for a while after their appearance.
Though the 2400 and 2600 are DX10. -
Well thank you VERY much for the help. I guess the fact that the lappy is operating on Santa Rosa also had me assuming it was a DX10 card.

Edited; All ATI cards except for the HD 2300 are DirectX 10 compatible.

Are you sure Chaz? I checked the site of ATI, and it says DX9c: http://ati.amd.com/products/mobilityradeonhd2300/specs.html
The 2400HD is DX10 though. So I think that the HD 2300 is not DX10. -

That's really odd. I'll look more into this issue. ATI is pulling strings.

the hd 2300 is not dx10

The HD 2300 is essentially a X1300 with the UVD added. So it should accelerate decoding of HD video sources, which is nice considering the low-end CPUs it'll likely be paired with.

ATI is pulling real dirty tricks. The ONLY DX10 card that ATI currently has available on the market is the ATI Radeon HD 2900XT, which is a desktop graphics card. All other ATI graphics cards currently on the market, no matter what their nomenclature, are DX9.0c. ATI has announced the HD 2400 and HD 2600 for notebooks, which are DX10 compatible. Those should be appearing in July.
Nvidia has many more DX10 selections than ATI does -
The Geforce 8500GT, 8600GT, 8600GTS, 8800GTS, 8800GTX, and 8800Ultra are all available right now for desktops and are all DX10.
The Geforce 8400M G, 8400M GS, 8400M GT, 8600M GS, and 8600M GT are all available from Nvidia right now for laptops. Only select notebooks offer them at the moment. Nvidia has also announced the 8700M GT, 8800M GS, 8800M GT, and 8800M GTX, which will appear during the summer. -
UVD only for HD 2400,HD 2600 series.. -
Ati X2500 is also not DX10. Instead, it's a repackaged x1700.

Like I said, it's still a forum post, so accuracy can not be 100% verified, but it seem true. -
I think that's enough evidance
Thanks fabarati, I owe you one ! -
NP, glad i could help.

I used to like ATI, but since it joined AMD things are going wrong. Still no DX 10 card for notebooks, slow performance of the desktop versions.
I think I am going for nVidia on my next notebook. -
I think ATI's pulling some *really* dirty tricks with this stuff...and they are opening themselves up to a mis-advertising lawsuit if you ask me. People buying a 2300 at Best Buy are sure going to think it is a DX10 card...
