I just bought an HP laptop with the NVIDIA card, but I found a better deal in a Toshiba Satellite, which has ATI Radeon 3100.

Which graphics card is better? I know they're both crap relative to high-end card, but I'm pretty sure the ATI is better.

Also the HP came with 2.0 GHz AMD Turion™ X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor TL-60, the Toshiba has 2.0GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 RM-70.

Again, which of these are better?

Well, "a lot" is a relative term. While the ATI is somewhat better than the nvidia, the difference in performance isn't going to be more than 20%.

Edit: Actually, I've never even heard of the Radeon 3100. Are you sure you don't mean the Intel X3100? Because if so, the nvidia is better.

The Toshiba is a MUCH better buy, the 7150 is crap, and it has last gen's processors.

    YES.

Thanks for the posts confirming my thoughts.
I'm going from a 17" to a 14.1", but I think the 17" was a bit too big for me anyways.

So I'm sacrificing a larger screen for a better processor, graphics card, PLUS I save $50.

    Awesome.

I think its just a HD3200 without the Hybrid SLI thing...
    Not 100% on that though.

no the 7150 is much better than the x3100. And I'm fairly the 3100 is a typo and it means the 3200 which has the preformance of a dedicated low end card.

No, I'm not talking about the Intel X3100. I actually got a Dell laptop with the Intel X3100, but it couldn't even run the original Halo game on the lowest settings. I made this thread earlier: ATI Radeon X300 vs Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100???

My newest laptop ran games better, but still was still pretty laggy. The new laptop I'm looking at has a smaller screen so that should also improve performance.

So no, HELL NO it's not an Intel X3100. HELL NO. lol

Well, I'm pretty sure you know all the stats and all, but the last laptop i had before this one, a Dell, had the x3100. See another thread I made: ATI Radeon X300 vs Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100???

The laptop I got as a result of this thread had the 7150, and it ran games better. I did hear in some places that the x3100 was better, but i could not get it to improve its performance. Driver installation, etc. So sunday came around and I saw the satellite advertised, did some research, and now i'm here.

about the proccessor RM-70 is better than the all the TL/QL/TK series of Turions.
for more info checkout the following link and compare processors. its a AMD company website.
when u look at proccess technology, lower the number better, e.g. 65nm SOI better than 90nm SOI. (they are faster, but reliability is not proven at 65nm since its a newer technology.)

the HD3100 is 200 mhz lower clocked than the hd3200 , but has the same amount of shaders (40unified) both are based on the HD2400 technology, although the performance would probably be a bit slower due to lower clock speeds and the fact it is an intergrated card . Both are DX10 technology however useless they might be at rendering at dx10. Therefore i would think games pre 2004-2005 would be playable on medium settings. However it remains unclear wheather a small amount of dedicated memory may appear on the chips.

    Hope it helps :)

I spent a thousand dollars for this new laptop which has 7150M. I'm very disappointed. Do not get a laptop with a 7150M card at all.

Given all of nvidia's recent GPU failures I would rather buy anything but nvidia.

So ATi or even Intel X4500 series gets my vote.
