I am considering to buy a iMac, with moderate gaming capabilities. My goal is to be able to play Call of Duty 4 on it. That'll be good enough for me. The graphic card of the base model of iMac is ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB. I'm wondering if it is good enough.

My planned budget for the purchase is around $1200. The model with ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB costs $1500, so it is a bit over my head, but I can consider it if it is worth the price.

I have a feeling that I have to have a graphic card with at least 256 mb to play any games nowadays, so 128 mb will probably lag in performance. What do you think?

The 2600 is much better. But Apple computers are never worth the price. See front page article about new mac notebooks.

Don't judge the capabilities of a graphic card by the amount of ram it has. Many people make the mistake of judging a graphic card by the amount of ram it has. The most important attributes of a graphic card is the chip (In this case 2400xt, 2600HD) and the speed of the memory (Both Imacs use GDDR3 memory, which is superior to DDR2 memory)
