    Which one is faster?

The 3200 is in a 12'' laptop with AMD Turion X2 RM-70 Dual Core...

The 8400 is a 13'' laptop with intel dual core...

I think they'd perform very similarly, if the 8400 is a GS. If it is an 8400GT, I think it'd be about 25% faster than the HD3200.

Honestly, I have only seen benchmarks for the desktop versions of these cards, so this would be analogous reasoning.

I remember the 780G PUMA seems to sit around 1500 in 3DMark06 and 15FPS in Company of Heroes in DX10 at 1280x1024. The 8400GS gets about 1500 in 3DMark06 and ALSO got about 15FPS at the same settings.

So...GS or GT, that is the question!

lets just say that the 3200 is like peanut butter and pork chops while the 8400 is like chocolate pudding and marshmallows.

Close call. I'd give a slight edge to the 8400 just because it's dedicated but the Radeon does DirectX 10.1 which may eventually prove useful and it burns less power.

The 8400m GS is superior. The HD 3200 isn't too far off (it's a little better than the 8400m G) but since it uses system ram it will probably have some issues running at higher resolutions and displaying high detail textures.

argh, so frustrated, im not sure which to buy for my trip.

Were driving down to california from canada so a tablet would be easier to use in a car but the dell is more powerful...

How is the AMD Turion X2 RM-70 Dual Core compared tot he intel dual core?

From the numbers I have seen the HD3200 is slightly better than a GS and worse than a GT. Anyone have any benchmarks to link?

This is a tough decision, I'd go for the AMD because I'm curious how it performs, but for a serious purchaser I don't know which way to steer you. Also, most Intel processors will be better than an AMD processor of the same GHz. That said, the Turion should be a good solution, just not quite as fast as the Intels. (The RM-70 runs at 2.0 GHz)

What Intel processor is the Dell outfitted with?

According to those, they are just about the same, with the HD3200 showing a minuscule edge. I'm not sure how well Notebookcheck.net has improved upon their benchmarks (they used to vary fairly wildly), but if these are to be believed, you've got identical GPU performance.

Intel will *probably* have an edge in CPU, but then again you have to fork over 100 extra bucks.

I think at this point laptop features should be your most pressing question. Which laptop will fit your needs better in terms of ports, features (tablet vs not), screen resolution, etc.

Then you are talking a stalemate in realistic performance. (Though the Intel still probably edges out the AMD by several percent).

Features features features! How much RAM do each come with and what Operating System? XP or Vista?

The HD3200 will save battery life over the 8400m GS right? But i still reckon gaming wise the 8400m GS will produce better results, although the HD3200 might have a little more shader power.... This is a tough one :D Good luck!

Well, the source engine performs better on ATI hardware (usually) and on the odd side (who ever tells people to get the integrated over dedicated for gaming?), the ATI is basically an integrated GPU thus it puts out less heat and needs less power than the nVidia part so look for better temps and more battery life with the ATI card.
