Is here someone who is running Oblivion on this IGP? I would like to know what settings and framerates you get. How is it working with grass and other "fade" settings like trees, items and objects?

i have the Ati Radeon Xpress 1250M and it is definately much worse than the ATI Radeon HD 3200 (think 1000 3DMark05 vs 2500) WEI says that it scores 3.8 on gaming graphics and 4.1 on Aero! dont listen to WEI!

Well it's amazing what the HD3200 can do considering it's an integrated chip with little to no actual performance boosters on it. Currently, it's only surpassed by the 9400M GS and I think the margin isn't that huge either so it's definitely quite the advancement in terms of IGPs.

The good performance of this IGP, is it true for computers that don't use the Crossfire/PUMA thing?

How does this IGP handle games, when it is "crippled" by HP?

    Also:
What does this mean? That a certain version of the HD3200 has "sideport memory", and performs well? Is it like a "Vista ReadyBoost" thing, but for graphics?

I'm thinking of buying a HP Compaq 615, but don't know what kind of HD3200 is in it.

I don't like doing it, but I feel that a bump is necessary, since this thread has traveled a bit from page 1 in the GPU forum.

I think most of those who posted their experiences here have the HP version. Well, it seems pretty good to me. Played most of 2007~2008 games. Was able to play Crysis for awhile (20~30fps on low) before I got bored because it was running slow.

The HD3200 gains benefit from running your memory in dual channel (i.e. 4gb vs 3gb) as well as if the version has the dedicated RAM in it. Although its not like its going to be a powerhouse IGP. Its still not a gaming GPU.

    Thx for your reply.
20-30 FPS at low on Crysis seems like a good thing for an IGP.
It should mean that Oblivion and Half-Life 2 will run even better.

Is there any issue with backwards compatibility though? I remember that Intel's X3100 have some problem with DirectX 8 games for example.

Dual-channel memory I can make sure I have, but I don't know if the Compaq 615 has dedicated (sideport???) memory on it's IGP. How can one tell? Do you have 512 mb dedicated memory on your HD 3200?

Usually the dedicated memory is only ~64mb. The sticker on my dv5z says I have "512mb of dedicated memory", which is misleading and totally false, since I don't even have dedicated memory on my HD3200, and its only taking up 256mb of shared/system memory. There's also no option in the BIOS to configure this (for this model, at least...)

I've played HL2 on max settings without a problem... Oblivion haven't really played much but it does well too.

I don't think there's any problem with older games / older DirectX versions. I can run really old games. WC3 is DX8 if I remember right, and I'm playing it well.

    Truth revealed.

just talkd to HP the most senior person.. they say dv5z or atleast my machine dv5-1030ee has ati hybrid crossfire technology ...
we can use this technology on notebooks. adding another 4xxx series gpu...
they say RS780M chip with hd 3450 mobility radeon supports ati hybrid crossfire technology .

i give 10/10 if this machine supports ...atleast they made me hopeful...
they provide me this link for all informations i need .
