I've been hearing that the ATI Radeon x300 is a better choice for gaming than the x600? Is that true?... I'm wondering if the x600 is compatible enough with near future games coming out and games that are already released like HL2, and BF2. Opinions anyone?

That's ridiculous. The x600 and x300 are basically the same design, but the x600 is put through a better manufacturing process and thus can be and is clocked higher. Otherwise they are practically identical so if you have a very good x300 and overclock it, it will be the same as an x600. That saying withoug overclocking the x600 is much better in games performing well with games such as HL2, but not so great with Doom 3. From what I've seen BF2 runs for some people, but not for others for people with an inspiron 9300 with Go 6800 so I have no idea about that one.
