    Hey guys,

I just recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv8000 laptop w/ a 17" screen. Love it...except the graphics card won't play ANY decent game. I was told if I update my firmware it might help. Does any1 have any suggestions on how I could tweak it to play some half-way decent games? I can't play anything it's so choppy!

    Thanks,

    Dan

My suggestion is...change the GPU!! X200 sucks!! Man, it is just a step from integrated sh..t !! No, wait - it is integrated!! And as you probably DON'T know integrated cards in 99% will not let you play the decent games. Deal with it or change your laptop. Sad but true.

You don't have many options to increase performance .. the Omega drivers as noted would be a good upgrade, but I have heard that they don't work with the X200M.

How long ago did you purchase the notebook?

How much RAM do you have? And what is your Video Mem set at? The 200m isn't too bad if you have enough RAM in your machine. Also don't expect to play games fluidly on high res with the 200m. Low to Med might be doable in some games.

Omega drivers [the latest ones] detects my 200M and it works fine. It give me some umph.......Better upgrade to 1gb in this case [or 2gb].

Prasys, what version of Omega do you use? I installed the latest on and it didn't detect my X200M (integrated). I have 766 mb RAM.

If Omega doesn't work should I just revert to the official ATI drivers? I would like to overclock my 200m.

My gf just replaced her DV8000 with a M100...but her's ran WoW at native resolution(1440x900?) fine on medium/low settings. And she only had 512mb of ram. I was actually surprised at how well it ran the game. Make sure you aren't running a lot of background programs as the 200M does use system ram.
