    Is it any good? Need it for using photoshop, 3ds MAX, level editors and playtesting the games.
    Will it suffice for the Unreal 3 engine or is a nvidia geforce 9800m GTS a better choice?

    as long as you are using directx you will be fine with the 9800 gts. that card is better for gaming and such, but...

    ...when it comes to opengl in a cad program or in the new photoshop cs4 the old v5600 is gonna be 3-5 times better in opengl performance. ( remember that 3dsmax uses directx). so if you are not gonna use maya, cinema4d, rhino, or any other opengl based program you will be fine with the nvidia card.
