    Hi,

I've been reading through lots of information on integrated graphics the last few days but still slightly puzzled at what these chipsets are capable of. There is a nice guide on this site for the 6150 with screenshots and fps values from varying games but I haven't so far run across the same for the other chipsets.

From what I can tell the GMA950 in a macbook can play Halflife 2 and indeed I have seen WoW runnning well on a friends macbook, but some PC games forums seem less positive about those same games on a PC with GMA950. Therefore I started looking at slightly faster options - the Samsung R20 with Ati1250 being one.

Can someone give me an idea of what the GMA950 & Ati1250 can run 3d wise (preferably having actually tried them on a laptop themselves)....

I've listed several games below of varying age. Assuming both machines are running coreduo cpu's - Which will work playably with a) the 950 and b) the 1250 ?

(Playable to me is 25fps+ without AA/AF and gfx settings tweaked down if needed but pref at full screen i.e. 1280x800)

    Half Life
    Quake 2
    Quake 3 engine games
    World of Warcraft
    Half Life 2 ?

    Thanks :D

Yes they will run, but not very beautifully. You've got to turn down Eye Candy, and your resolution. But yes it will run.

I play a lot of Tiberium Wars with my GMA950 on medium settings with minimal lag.

The X1250 is faster than the 950, by a lot I believe. If you were able to wait (I don't know how long) I would look out for AMD 780G based laptops. The GPU in that IGP is 3X faster than the Intel X3100 because AMD basically took a Radeon HD2400 Pro and threw it right into the chipset.

ive got an X1270 and mine is probably slightly better than the x1250.

some friendly advice. DONOT go for gma 950 intel cards just suck and its true. tiberium wars can even make it 10 minutes into the game without crashing.
its probably the lowest of the low card out there, dont try it.

as for the ati x1270 it will play

Half Life super high upwards 50pfs
    Quake 2 super high
Quake 3 engine games super high. (this is for the last gen of cards)
    World of Warcraft high
    Half Life 2 ? high upward 50fps

such games have no problem with igp such as atix1270 ive got half life 2.

games i play and work awesome

    company of heroes opposing fronts
world in conflict (low settings some on medium)
    gta san andreas medium
need for speed most wanted medium
half life 2 orange box (high)
CoD 4!! super low. and playable frame rates of 25fps up.

IGPs from ATI are highly underestimated. and intel highly overrated. igps is my answer for really mobile gaming. dedicated video cards if u really want to game come in bigger and heavier laptops. but happy gaming :D

    Consider Half-Life 2 unplayable on the GMA950.
