I am in dire need of a new laptop, as I am currently computer-less. For video/graphics, basically I'd want something that would run World of Warcraft at good settings with a good framerate, and be 14.1" or smaller. In addition I'd want it to run HD video downloads (trailers, what have you) without choppiness. Same goes with DVD playback.

I KnoW the x1270 is worse. Obviously it's worse cuz it's integrated video. But the choice is:
laptop with the 8400m gs for $860
laptop with the x1270 for $599

These laptops otherwise have comparable specs. The more expensive one is a HP dv2500t configured with a 2.0ghz core 2 duo, 120gb HDD, with webcam, and the $200 HP coupon for $860 shipped

The cheaper option is a Gateway on sale at best buy this week. 1.9ghz dual core Amd turion, webcam, slot loading dvd burner (a neat feature as opposed to tray loading), and 160gb hdd.

In all honosty I'm not looking to run FEAR or Oblivion, or any super new computer games. I am mainly a console gamer. But I don't want my system crippled with general performance with light gaming (WoW) and hd video playback and Aero on Vista, with a poor graphics card. I'm also super cheap.

With these things in mind, would you think the performance of the x1270 would be sufficient for my needs? No choppiness in WoW?

Thanks so much. i used to have a laptop with ati 1150 integrated video, and played WoW, and had some choppiness in the game even on medium/low settings. You think the x1270 would improve that?

Hmm thanks you've really helped me a lot. I just wanna be thrifty in this, and want something stylish as well. HP's are stylish, but this Gateway model I've been looking at looks nice too physically. I was looking at a macbook, but those are way expensive. So I may pick up the Gateway this week just cuz the sale just started on sunday. Need to decide quickly before this best buy sale expires. How is the performance between a 1.9ghz dual core AMD and a 2.0 ghz core 2 duo?

Yee your complaining with an 1150 the MacBook would be a downgrade in graphics.
    In benchmarks? yes
Everyday use(yes gaming) no not really.

I didn't mean to complain. I just over-analyze all "large" purchases. I'm compulsive like that lol. I really do appreciate your help!

Best Buy gives you two weeks two return the laptop, no? You can give it a shot, and if it doesn't work out then take it back. :)

I've heard mixed things about the quality of Gateway computers, though...

15% Restock Fee. I would highly avoid doing this unless you have $100 to test a laptop.

Yea there's a 15% restock fee so I wouldn't want to return it lol. So I'd wanna be pretty sure-y

Just to update, the Gateway with integrated video would be $640.50 after tax, and the HP with tax/shipping comes to around $860. So it's around a $200 price difference. Do you think the disparity in general performance would be worth the xtra $?
