Been playing with CCC settings for about two days now and I finally came to the conclusion that CCC settings might not work AT ALL.

The games ive tested so far is CoD4, Far cry 2 and WoW.

For eg. In ALL three games ive tried to set CCC at max settings (of course i tried to toned down the settings a bit later in case something was conflicting but same result), AA@8 with and without temporal anti-aliasing and box/edge detect as filters.

Also ive set Anisotropic filtering at 16x and Adaptive anti-aliasing on both on and off.

The results ? Lets take far cry for that example, forcing all those settings in CCC has almost no impact on FPS in the game, the game will still run at 40-70 fps. Resetting all CCC settings and just using the in game AA setting to x4 instantly takes down the fps to 25-50.

Same with the other two games, forcing the settings in CCC seem to have no effect on fps in the game. Ive tried taking some pictures (.bmp ones of course) after changing each setting to see if theres a difference but sadly im really bad at it since i cant really tell the difference between any of the settings, cant even tell the difference from No AA to AAx4 :(

So basically i was wondering, if anyone else tested the CCC settings with success ? And, how do you tell the difference between the settings ? (yea i know edges are smoother etc but honestly i cant tell the difference, not sure if its the high resolution or just me :( ).

    Using 9.5 ATI drivers.

PS. Im positive that CCC works on desktop computers since many desktop users are using CCC to force some settings, so im trying to figure out if its a problem when modding the desktop drivers to work on notebooks.

You did change it from "application controlled" to use your CCC settings right?

But since your using 9.5 I know you modded the driver to work, so no native support for those drives is probably the reason why.

if you reverted to your stock drivers/CCC that came with your laptop it would probably work.

So you believe its a problem that comes with modding the desktop drivers ?

Havent test the ones that came with the laptop since they are about 1+ year old drivers and ATI's newer drivers make a huge difference :(

As for the application controlled of course i unticked it :)
Been playing for roughly and hour with the settings trying to see if theres a decrease in fps when changing the settings around etc. But after a while without seeing a difference it occurred to me that something is not working as it should be.

Just wish ATI supported the notebook users a bit, although i think they released an official beta driver for win 7 (?).

But for now im trying see if other people have the same problem, if not then i might rollback to the AW drivers to test the theory :)

im sure if you properly moded the drivers it would work, but just getting the driver to work, and getting it to work with all of the features are two different monsters.

there is a ati mobility driver site now, you may give it a try. the driver did not work on the W90 but it has the strange 4870x2 card, for a more standard card it may work. Link is in the Asus W90 owners lounge somewhere.
