I'm currently considering to buy a new laptop, and after loooking a bit into the gfx card part, i'm quite unsure which one of these are better? Ati mobility HD 4670 or ATI mobility HD 5470? Looks like theyr both in the same price range, 4670 being much more powerful, yet 5470 suports DX11... I'm quite lost here. Which one is better?

DX11 ain't worth it if you can barely run its main features (tessellation, for example). 4670 is the better option.

Go with the 4670. What laptops are you looking at with these cards?

4670 is the better card. Whilst DX11 would be nice to have, we are not anywhere near DX11 only games (just look at how many games are still DX9), so it's not something that necessarily needs to be worried about right now. And like SomeRandomDude said, the card is not powerful enough to run DX11's main features to a very good degree.

    My vote goes to 4670.

Thanks for the info so far.

At the moment i'm looking into MSI GX623. since i'm sorta looking into a budget gaming laptop, i figured out it fit me well, the only thing worrying my is quite slow processors clock speed (2.0 Gz). Got any suggestions?

The HD4670 is indeed the better GPU. The HD5470 is the successor to the HD4570 so there is a noticeable performance drop.

If you're looking for purchase suggestions, might want to fill a FAQ and post in the "What Notebook Should I Buy?" subforum :)

4670 for performance and 5470 for dx11 (also lower power consumption and heat).

As everyone else has said the 4670 will last you longer in gaming terms. The 5470 is a low performance card while the 4670 is a middle performing card.

2.0 Ghz C2D will run almost every game fine to some degree. And if you need to upgrade, penryn CPUs are getting cheap and easily found in the Marketplace on NBR. The MSI is easy to upgrade as well.

4670 would be my option but seriously try looking for something else.. DirectX 11 is good to have.
