How come that even when I set the 3d settings in catalyst to application managed it won't let them be managed by the aplication?

I was playing half life 2 and set the AA up to 2x in the settings menu for the game and I thought "why, this is crappy AA" and then set it to 2x in catalyst and un clicked the "application managed" box and the AA worked.

I don't really understand seeing as it's "application managed" but when I try to control settings in the aplications menus it doesn't work

I have an SXPS 16 if that makes any difference

Edit: on an unreleted side note, I never knew until today that you can make programs which don't even have AA in their setup menus use it, I was just on google earth and wondered if catalyst had commited mutiny again. It had, I can now use AA on google earth which I never knew was even possible :)

    stock drivers?

if they are modified often times in the mod process a few features get fubared.

Yep, I never modded it. I might have updated the drivers but that is all, I can't really remember, anyway the dell drivers won't have such huge faults in them
