I'm wondering if this upgrade is worth it i currently have a 16mb mobility 7500 and the thing is a dog it gives the screen a hazy look. I googled around and found it was possible to UG to the 9000 series with 64mb of ram is it also possible to use the 128mb version in this Dell model.

Finally is this upgrade going to give me results worth paying 60 dollars for?

Will... it's only $60, so if I were you I would go for it. :)

If you want to play any games, the 9000 won't run anything at all. Even 2003/2004 games will chug on it.

Usually I would just say you can't upgrade it, in this case I would tell you not to upgrade it. After reading through those links, it doesn't seem like a very safe or stable suggestion to make.

Perhaps if your laptop was brand new, or if you only want a short period of time left with it's life, I'd think attempting the 9000 switch now may seriously impact it's life span.

Just to double check, have you fully updated the BIOS, and the video drivers, as well as looked into perhaps the screen being damaged?

Are you running the screen at native resolution?

A Mobility Radeon 9000 is fairly worthless in this day and age, it's not much better than the 7500 in perspective. It's like the difference between making $10 an hour and $12. Yes $12 is obviously better but it still won't get you a Mercedes-Benz.

You would be far better off putting that $60 towards your next machine.

Thanks for the advice, im going to leave it alone and put the money aside for a new machine I really appreciate it.... im waiting for the prices to come way down on the 17" models with a decent dedicated graphics card, not really a big gamer but still the prices are a few hundred bucks out of my league. Just for future knowledge what 17" is the best deal right now for the lowest price point?

Wrong. It can run Half-Life 2 at 25+fps with high-resolution FakeFactory models. However I still think that your $60 would be better spent elsewhere; say, on a new laptop ;) .
