I tried both .... never had issues with both (hardware/drivers wise) .... even though my old Nv go7900 could overclock like INSANE!!!!! compared to my mainstream HD4570 .... but still both have served me well

I use ATi not because I think AMD is better. I just prefer AMD, I think Nvidia is the worst company in the PC industry among the big 3, Intel, AMD and Nvidia.

But Nvidia continues to screw over both AMD and Intel. I prefer PC Gaming to be an open platform where my enjoyment of a game should not be predicated on what hardware manufacturer I support. Open Platform > Proprietary systems.

But then I suppose, I should blame the game developers/publishers also for choosing to screw over the other half of the PC Gaming population.

    Only NVIDIA.
ATI's drivers on Linux are real pain.

intel gpu is just nothing(never was or is in the run)...however they develop processors like a genius :)
"open platform >proprietary systems"..couldnt agree with u more..but sadly things r not in the same vein in the market for notebooks :(

I wasn't talking about the intel Larabee. I was talking about that PhysX screws over Intel also. Intel competes with Nvidia for physics engines. Intel has Havoc, Nvidia has PhysX. But PhysX running on CPU is single threaded with x87 instructions which cause Intel CPU to bottleneck. So Nvidia isn't just screwing over AMD users, but AMD+Intel users also. Nvidia did try to take out Intel with chipsets and later x86 processors but luckily Intel was very quick to shut them down. Few times I say, Hooray for Intel's legal department!

I own both, little problems with either except some of my OLDER games play nicer with ATI and don't run at all with any Nvidia card. For outright performance Nvidia has done it again after ATI released their 6xxx cards. I recently bought a 6870 and i'm quite happy with it. It's fast runs super cool, couldn't be happier. It replaced a 9800GTX+ that I was happy with until the 6870 came out.

I never buy the top of the line stuff. Just try and go for the best bang for the buck. For me both Nvidia and ATI puts out solid stuff. The only negative is the CCC that ATI uses, it runs off of .NET and I clearly like the Nvidia CP better although you can get pretty close to that with RadeonPro.

I know I responded with my own strong opinions, but I agree, this thread is only going to lead to trouble. So I'll refrain from posting further on this issue.

I've been using nVidia when I have a choice for the past several years. My very first graphics card was an ATi Radeon 9250, back in the days of AGP. It caused me no end of poor performance and crashing in Halo, which was the main game I played back then (2004-ish). I replaced it with an nVidia GeForce FX5200, which worked just fine for the next year that I had it. I replaced that with a GeForce 6600GT, and it blew Halo out of the water, and it could play Battlefield 2, which was the new hotness when I got it, but my FX5200 couldn't handle it.

A couple years after that, in 2007, I built a whole new computer with my first dual-core CPU (still using it today :p), and chose the new GeForce 8800GT 512MB to go with it, and it blew all my games away and lasted me about 3 years until just a couple months ago, when it started artifacting and failed for good. Not a bad run.

I replaced that card with a GTS 250 1GB, which has been running fine since I put it in. My next card will probably be either a GTX 460 or 580, depending on how much money I get in the near future.

I like Nvidia because of support, but ATi has great performance.

I'm not an Nvidia fanboy, but most of the laptops I've purchased have Nvidia graphics cards.

I recently bought a desktop, and decided to get a half way decent video card for it. I chose Nvidia because of driver support, and it was pretty cheap. A GT 240 512MB GDDR5 for $55.
