i own a 9600 in my desktop...i had a 9100, before i had a 32 mb ati card i cant remember what it was called, maybe a radeon 32mb? I guess the ATI has been the way to go for me because of price at a certain time. I dont really care though lol I'm open to either.

I never thought this would get this attention, this is great. Now I know for sure that ATI and Nvidia share the market almost evenly. Wouldn't it be great if they hook up and give us one super card. I think not. Let's keep this going and see how it flunctuates in time, with new VGAs from each company. We encourage newbies to vote as soon as they register and show us there muscles, not a member yet? What are you waiting for? It's free and very insightful, not to mention the fun.

GeForce Go 6600 OC'ed (408/775) = 2816
Deedeeman, wow! What were your stock frequencies. My stocks were 375/700, you went up by 100 points on the core and 100 on the memory frequencies according to my clock settings!!! -

I agree with Twilight there... man thats almost the score of a 6800Go with 256 MB...
Still waiting for a screenshot
Charlie-Peru -
Yeah, currently I've got my GeForce Go 6600 128MB OC'ed to 430/792 and the score I'm getting is 3020. Deedee's getting 600 points more with only 30 points higher on the core and 8 more points on the memory according to my clock frequencies!!! I don't think I can OC my card anymore.
-
Can anyone here tell me HOW to get a screenshot????? i want to post it... but i dont know how to take one. do i need a digital camera or something????? also i need to know how i put this information on the review im writing about my lappie!!! thanks
-
Just upload your test results to the ORB, and post the comapre url.
Highest 6600Go on the ORB is 3150, thats at 450/760. -
ati radeon 200m 128mb
650 3dmark05 1024x768 default settings
I have a ati mid card in my sff that pulls high 2k-3k cant remeber. I dont really have too much of a prefference, but I do have a slight ATI bias.:ati: :turion: -
And btw, to take a screen shot use the print screen button then open up paint and use the paste command. Then save and upload it to a web host. -
notebook for the win.
i guess most ppl will choose notebook when they are out of gaming age, and ATI is just so much better at notebook field. (sure, nvidia is faster, but is it also hotter and produce more noise alone with shorter battery life) -
Hello.
I'm new around here... and i have a little problem.
The thing is that i have a Compaq Evo N1020v, with ATI Radeon IGP 340M, and I can't upgrade the graphics driver, because it only accepts Compaq drivers. As u probably know, HP is now the "man", and the latest drivers are 2-3 years old.Is there a way to upgrade to a driver made by ATI for laptops that have motherboards with IGP cards???I mean with drivers that aren't signed as being made by Compaq or HP. PLS HELP ME.thank u. -
You can try Omegadrivers.net they might work.
-
i dont think i tied it to a go6800...because i bought 3dmark05pro (which is a waste of money in my opinion) for 20 dollars...and i tweeked the settings around till i got the highest score. i havent tried defualt settings in 3dmark yet...but i'll test it soon. -
Theres your explination! You lowered the settings. We run ours at default so all benchmarks are on an even scale.
-
ok just done benching on defualt.
3dmark05 score: 2754 (stock clocks) (latest Drivers from laptopvideo2go)
didnt try OC yet. -
but still...in my opinion nvidia cards are better...because greater OC potential and better score in benches!!!
plus.... we bought a new family desktop....
specs are:
AMD Athlon X2 4400+
4GB DDR RAM
500GB HardDrive
ATI Radeon X700 256MB DDR (3?) 3dmark05=4210
17inch LCD
all for $1299!!!!
thats gonna be MY primary gamming machine (my lappie will be for mobile gamming!!!!) but it would have been better if it had a GeForce6800GT or something
we now have 6 computers in our home!!!!!
1.My lappie
2.my sister's lappie (Compaq v2000)
3.mom's lappie (HP dv5000z)
4.dad's lappie (HPdv5000z)
5.old desktop (athlon 1500+.....256MB geforce 6200..)
6.new desktop -

There we have it! We have a person that uses the Pro edition so he can tweak his settings so he can almost get scores of a 6800Go.
Try to run it on default settings, then pls post your score.

It is possible your idle temperatures are higher because the fan is not pushing as much air over the GPU - when you are gaming, the fans run considerably faster and thus more air is pushed over the GPU to cool it off.
Your temperatures are normal, I wouldn't worry about it. Much cooler than some laptops I've seen. -
I'm an :nvidia: guy all the way!!!
-
couldnt have agreed more with ya mate!!!!
NVIDIA TO THE CORE!!!! -
Maybe I'm just making things up, but i thought that i heard somewehre that nvidia is known to tweak their drivers to perform better in benchmarks... Again, could just be me.

ahh okay, i knew i wasn't going crazy.

personally to me, the nVidia FX series dont exist. i mean that they are an embaressment to such a great graphics company.
i love GeForce 4 Ti
I love GeForce 6 series
i love GeForce 7 Series
i HATE GeForce 2/FX series -
Both ATI and Nvidia tweak their drivers for better benchmark figures. This is allowed, until the point where the tweaks start sacrificing image quality for more fps. Nvidia were caught out with several sets of drivers around the time of the GeForce FX. ATI have also been found guilty on several occasions of doing this, although to their credit they did not try to sue Futuremark when accused of doing so.
-
ATi here. I've always had good performance out of there cards, even there low-budget models. They seem to "stay supported" longer as well, where as nVidia's budget line seems to be bypassed quicker.
-
lol did they really try to sue?
-
They threatened Futuremark with legal action, unless they changed the word 'cheat' to 'optimization'. Which of course they did. This is what led to Futuremark having to approve drivers from ATI and Nvidia to make sure they were't using any 'optimizations' which compromised image quality.
-
Sorry i didn't read all the topic
but have u noticed that ATI cards have better results in 3Dmark's and worst in games ( less fps even if they are better in 3d mark)
-

That's a pretty general comment. ATI has the upper hand when it comes to performance. Performance between models of the same range from ATI and Nvidia is very close as it is.
ATI cards always take over in the higher resolutions, especially when AA/AF are turned on, and also typically maintain a steadier framerate. Nvidia has better performance in OpenGL, but ATI is more solid across the board. I do not believe you can go wrong with either company. -
ATI is winning the image quality stakes with this generation as well. I know people who have gone from SLI 7800s to a single X1900 because of the image quality. For one ATI use angle-dependent anisotropic filtering ( which was actually first used by Nvidia in their FX series!) which produces better results than Nvidia's current method. You can also use Anti-Aliasing with HDR on ATI cards (X1k series) which Nvidia cannot do yet.
As Chaz said, Nvidia do hold an upper hand in OpenGL performance, where their cards perform a lot better than ATI equivalent. Something which is important since the Doom 3 engine is being used for several upcoming shooters.
I have always used Nvidia myself when I had my desktop (GF2MX to GF4Ti to 6800le to 6800GT) since I always found Nvidia cards to be more attractively priced (ie cheaper!) than the ATI equivalent. Personally I don't rate either company over another, end of the day they exist to get my money off me, but my loyalty is not thrown into that package. -
Nvidia all the way!!
3dmark05-9357 -
I’m not loyal to one brand as I choose the components that have the best bang for the buck. When I built my first computer I choose an ATI 9800 pro which has held up very well for the past 4 years. IMHO, people should abandon their loyalty to one company and just go for what’s best at the moment.
-
I agree with you 100%, ovejon. The moment ATI cards have decent OpenGL performance and linux drivers that give equivalent performance to their Windows counterparts I'll seriously consider switching.
What's the point of buying the fastest card, if the drivers only give you 50% of it's potential? -
yeah! whats the best hardware in the world with out the software to run it?

Out of 108 votes, ATI and Nvidia broke even guys!? 54/54, really? We need more voters, I don't like how this looks
-
Simply amazing!

i like both nvidia and ati. for notebooks i prefer nvidia just because there are none that i know of that have a x1800xt (besides xps m2010,, which is rediculous). for desktop tho i like ati.

nVidia all the way!!!!!(except the FX series) ATI all the way too..
man! i cant decide..........both companies are good. both have their pros and cons....just like AMD and Intel................ -
ATI X600 64MB (256MB Hypermemory), 3DMark05:
Stock:1340
OC: 1560
I like ATI but I see Nvidia outperforms ATI on each segment...it's easier to find ATI based laptops though, maybe even cheaper. -
