    Hello out there!
Anyone know how big a difference it is between the ATI x1300 dedicated vs the Intel 950 integrated?
Any experience or reviews would be much appreciated.

an intel 950 is like a golfball. the X1300 is like a basketball. that should give you an idea :)

So the 950 is better for throwing at people? Got it.

X1300 - Its a dedicated graphics card which supports AVIVO Technology and has Pixel Shader v3.0...

    GMA950 - A simple DirectX 9 Graphics card!

Intel's chipset borrows its VRAM from the system RAM, and as a result is slower but offers superior battery life. Its really not for games.

The dedicated ATI X1300 has its own memory banks allowing for faster access times and a faster core speed, sacrificing 15 minutes or so of battery life in exchange for a little more horsepower under the hood.

Whichever one you get really depends on you needs and tendencies as a PC user. Personally, I would prefer the ATI X1300; Intel's graphics chips are just pitiful.

You might want to check out the guide, it has a lot of useful info:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=39568

What deedeeman is trying to say is that if you were comparing performance between a GMA950 and an X1300, the 950 would be a golf ball - the lesser of the two, and the X1300 a basketball - much bigger, much more powerful (in terms of size). (correct me if I am wrong deedeeman).

A golf ball is smaller but I can hit one significantly farther and with more velocity than I can throw a basketball from end to end on the court.

    That's a funny analogy, though.

Well, it was meant in terms of size as I posted (and I presumed the original poster meant), but it is an interesting analogy.

ok (since you guys are going to make fun of my hard worked analogies ;) ) im going to make another one:

the Intel 950 is an egg, while the X1300 is a spoon.

    Happy?

Howabout a ping pong ball instead of a golf ball, that'd work better.

Um....ok then...the X1300 is big, bright and ugly...and the 950 is small and elegant.

Well, this seems to be getting a bit out of hand with the analogies, so let's just keep it real.

what i meant about the spoon vs. egg analogy is that a spoon can kill or break an egg. so the spoon is stronger......so the x1300 can smash the 950 just like a spooon can crack open and smash an egg.

But the spoon gets all sticky from breaking the egg so it dies of being grossed out. Who wins, why all the violence?! Will the war ever end?!?!

    Ok, i'm done..
