    Hello,

I own a Asus W3J with an ATI x1600 512MB graphics card. However, I want to buy a backup computer, one that can hopefully play some games as well. I was looking at the Sony Vaio SZ (128MB 8500MS GS) and the 14" Lenovo T61p (128MB Quadro FX 570M).

Can someone break down the comparison between these cards? I've looked around and it seems the 570M trounces the 8500MS. However, I can't find a comparison where the x1600 has 512MB. I'm assuming the x1600 512mb will trounce the 570M 128mb?

What would you choose between the T61p and the Sony SZ? (I'm also considering the Dell M1330, but excluded it from the discussion because it has the same specs as the Sony. Feel free to comment on the dell though if you want.) Which one is studier, because I will have to use it everyday?

There isn't a more powerful 13"-14" notebook out on the market that I'm overlooking is there?

    Thank you!

its 8400 not 8500 by the way ;)

memory doesn't matter unless playing at high res...a common mis conception :)

The 570m is a 8600GT with drivers design for professional uses. and it is the best out of the 3 by far :)

    Thanks!

So the 570M beats the 8400MS and my current x1600. Is the x1600 and the 8400MS about the same?

hmm that I am not 100% sure, I think the X1600 is better.

I checked out one of those benchmark comparison sites and it seems like the X1600 is slightly better.

I'm thinking now the Dell M1330 or the T61p (apparently the Sony had some build problems). Would you recommend one over the other? Both seems game capable, obviously the t61 is superior though.

    Thanks for all the help.

The m1330 does have higher portability because of its size...I'd say T61p, but the wait is round 1-2 weeks at the moment.

I'd recommend a HP 8510p, 15'' but it is one of the thinnest and lightest one around :) HD 2600 graphics.
