Seriously this is great work. Now we can buy any small notebook with onboard vga & plag & play external VGA card when we want to play games.
I hope OEMS will adopt this technology soon.![]()

Good news for the netbook niche of laptop users, hardcore notebook gamers looking at their Clevos and Sagers can look elsewhere.

This is great news. I look forward to real world tests when the driver is out. If this can do what they say it can, it will sell really well.

lol this is officially the 100th topic ive seen about this.
Anyway, it may take quite a while till this idea really takes off the cost is a little too much now. -
although the benchmarks dont justify the price at this time...those are some pretty decent benchmarks
-
It works only on amd laptops
-
It don't work with intel laptops. ****, Anybody know if the dell studio 15 can make this work.
WHEN WILL THIS COME OUT AND HOW MUCH WILL IT COST. -
The ATI XGP technology is exclusive to AMD and limited to AMD Puma notebooks, so far the Fujitsu Amilo SA3650 is the only one to use it that has the special port needed and is only sold in Europe. Perhaps Nvidia can create a solution for Intel notebooks.
I wouldn't count on current laptops being able to use external GPUs when they come out, I think we'll have to wait for all new laptops with the ports needed to transfer the bandwidth between the notebook and external GPU. -
Not bad at all! Great job on the benchmarks.
-
Those benchmarks surely are let down by the CPU a little.
Either way, there is some seriously exciting stuff to look forward to in the notebook / gaming world. It would be so cool to have a truly portable device for general use that could also be used for some serious 3D gaming.
The last trip I took my 15'' laptop with me in a backpack, although it was not too much hassle, I would definitely swap that for a smaller device if I did not have to compromise on power.
I will not be buying a new laptop just yet, I will instead keep an eye on all of these developments. -
I'm not buying a notebook until I can get an HDMI port in a 10".

and what's the use of desktop PCs if you can do all those in your notebook? :S -
There is the Sony Vaio TT and Asus N10, one is a high-end expensive ultraportable whereas the other is a high-end expensive "netbook", both with 11.1" and 10" screens respectively with HDMI ports.

...preferably once it's reached mainstream enough that it's not in an $1800 notebook.
