Now, I'm not trying to start a love/hate thread here... I currently own an Asus G1S-A1 and noticed that tweaking the various digital vibrance, saturation, brightness and contrast settings (both under video and desktop) can get me a MUCH better quality picture; especially for high definition movies.

So the question is this... do ATI cards have a similar feature? I'm hearing rumors of a mobile 3870 X2 out there, which will be available in even 15" laptops. Seeing how desktop cards are doing, it will most likely be more powerful than a 8800m gtx and possibly 9800m gtx. I'm planning on getting a gaming laptop, but I have found that tweaking these settings in the nvidia control panel improves my image quality so much that it may sway my decision one way or the other.

I'm not sure, but I think it's that... [/end sarcasm]

Ah, thanks a lot; exactly what I was looking for. So what I gather is that there is some image quality tweaking, but not as much as in NVIDIA cards. Digital Vibrance really does make a huge difference, so I guess I will look at just how much of a performance difference there is between the cards.

    Yes it does.
Let me guess, you also like the 'ViViD' setting on Sony's TVs too?
When both are properly calibrate, they both look the same and deliver very similar Image Quality. It's kind like a 'turbo' button on a PC (or ATi's Overdrive) versus manually overclocking, you get better results by spending 10-15mins setting it up right, than by clicking a check box for the generic +10 boost.

But some people just like things to be blown out oversaturated like Willy Wonka's world.

BTW, there's no more DVC IS hardware in the GF8/9 series the last to have it were the GF7.

Haha, I've never used the ViViD setting on Sony's TVs, but if I ever get one I'll make sure to check it out. Yeah, I tend to like things oversaturated to the maximum... and beyond :p.
