Toms Hardware did some analysis of 2D rendering. Their findings have been sent to ATi and ATi has promised that this will be fixed in Catalyst 10.4. This is pretty embarrassing for ATi.

ATi hardware rendering of 2D is pretty much non-existent. Horrifying!
If you've been benchmarking with PassMark or any other tool that tests 2D rendering, hopefully your marks on the ATi 5xxx series will increase vastly.

Why does it always seem like your the last to know? Seriously quit posting old news.

But thanks for letting us know you are ahead of the curve! -
I didn't see anywhere any mention of the 10.4 driver. I read their response saying that it would be addressed in a driver update in the future. Unless you have some sort of quote I didn't see, doesn't that mean it could just as easily have been implemented in 10.2 or 10.3?

The response from ATi is not 2 months old.
Why do you care if this is posted? If you don't like it, don't read it...
Are you somehow affected that this was posted and you now need mental assistance?
According to Fudzilla, looking for direct quote from ATi, but haven't found one.
Also the ATi has released drivers supporting OpenGL 4.0 recently and believe the 10.4 may include those. If not here: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/Catalyst-OpenGL-preview-driver.aspx
- I haven't tried to see if they support mobile or not. -

So maybe this is a problem, although technically it appeared as though Nvidia cards (dedicated ones) were suffering similar performance issues. As long as they get GDI accelerated properly, I'm happy.
So I'll be looking forward to this 10.4 driver! I assume that means near the end of April, hehe. -

So what problems does this give the average user ? , can somebody give me an example.
