Found a pic gallery that has some interesting info regarding the upcomming ATi Mobility 4850 along with the 3Dmark06 score when the system is equipped with the new Core 2 Duo Extreme X9100:

Giv eet to meh!!!!! 5 hours of battery life on a gaming machine (even if in balanced mode). Holy **** is all I can say. Looks like it's going to be a revolution in mobile gaming.

    EDIT: finally hit 800.

Meh -- the 4850 doesn't look revolutionary or anything. Probably around a 9800M GTX, at least in terms of 3DMark06 alone.

I hope it plays games much better and runs cool enough for a M860TU, but until something mobile that gets 15K or better in 3DMark06 and is cool enough to fit into that chassis, it probably wouldn't be worth an upgrade from a 9800M GT.

Still, though, it's competition -- something desperately needed in the mobile GPU segment.

EDIT: Actually since that 10K 3DMark06 score was achieved with an overclocked X9100, I bet that a 9800M GT would get close to that score with that chip overclocked as well.

Unreleased (of course), but who cares, an Intel Extreme CPU and top of the line GPU should by logic not give 5 hours of battery life. There's magic in the air...

EDIT: Page 3. They have one right after they unplug the AC (~8 hours) then a little later they have one a little after it's been unplugged (~5 1/2 hours).

EDIT2: of course we'd need to see some pics when the % is down a bit more to be sure the reading has stabilized.

I got 12200 3DMarks 06 points on my desktop system listed in my signature when it was at stock settings.

Now I've overclocked the CPU to 3.6GHZ.

    I guess nearly 10K 3DMarks in 06' isn't too shabby at all.

IMO 3dmark does not stress shaders enough to be relevant. It is almost a plain old video memory benchmark. An oc'ed 9700m GT can get 9000 points but a game like Crysis barely scales at all.

Give me the 4850"s extra shaders any day. When someone runs real tests there should be a big difference.

From what I've seen the mid-range 9700M GT scores in the upper 5000's to the lower 6000's in 3DMark06.
