Check my sig for my laptop configuration.
I am new to playing games on a laptop and i know this card isn't used for hardcore gaming. But i think it should be able to play some games without any problems.
The game i am experiencing problems with is Homeworld:Cataclysm.
when i say problem i mean:
-the mouse pointer glitches across the screen
-while in game the graphics and gameplay are slow (compared to a rage 128mb in a 800mhz Dell)![]()
-I checked to see my fps with the program "fraps" and it shows 64 when not moving. Once moving units and loading it drops to zero and has to come all the way back up. Maybe this is normal i don't know.
I have tried all the different video settings in the game. Even with everything at medium and it is still pretty bad. Does the new laptop come with the latest directx? Would that solve my problem? If this can't be fixed will gameplay continue for any homeworld game? Thanks for any input.

Have you tried using different drivers, or a second game to see if you have the same problems?
-
i installed the most up to date drivers off of lenovos website. i havn't tried another game mainly because this game is 7 years old and if it can't play this then i can pretty much connect the dots and say it can't play UT or any post 2000 game.

I have the same set up as you and it definitely can play post 2000 games, games I have played include Sims 2, Morrowind, and CIV IV.
Being a pretty old game I'm not sure what it would not be working... -
do i have to go out and get direct x9? or does it come preinstalled? would that be causing this poor gaming? Is there anything else i might need to download? Thanks for the responses.

You should not have to get direct x9 it should be installed, try running system update and download the latest critical updates if any are available.
